  1. black lower block. and oil pan bare aluminum cylinder head and water pump hsg. valve cover was black for carb and efi versions cleared aluminum VC for MOST turbo cars
  2. once paid $500 cash for a factory sealed Golor Me Gone 1968 Charger funnycar kit. Like an idiot sold it a few years later ,,,and yes I got my money back out of it
  3. There used to be one made in resin. But now long out of production. If you find one , pm me as I am looking for a couple of them
  4. Some of you guys are cheating. Taking pictures of the 1/1 car and posting its a model isnt fair Some amazing builds in this thread ,,as well as some phenominal photography work
  5. Oh I am not knocking it. I would love to have it (parents had one when I was young) And would love to be paid that kind of coin for my builds. I saw it when it was $800 or so. And was floored when I saw the final bid.
  6. Not in my wildest dreams did I think this would sell for this http://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-Ford-Country-Squire-Station-Wagon-Pro-Built-1-25-R-amp-R-Resin-/291316453944?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=kWIZWhislKrldyXncy2vjM2u5EQ%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  7. Thanks for all the tips fellas. I am looking at buying an original AMT 1959 Mercury convertible and the windshield is fogged pretty good in the pictures I have of it I may go ahead and pull the trigger on it and take a chance the glass can be cleaned up. Already ck'd Modelhaus and they show a vacuum formed replacement if it comes to that
  8. IMO, I cant see the Turbine kit being all that good of a seller myself. They are not teribilly hard to find in the secondary market and for about the same prices as most newer kits will be at . The 1959 Dodge on the other hand will be a very welcome newcomer
  9. Which kit is this ? I have an old Lincoln to do in the stash
  10. Ditto This is exactly the reason I have started looking for some older kits to redo, and unless they are cheap ( not likely ) I have to look at old builtup annuals , Concentrating on 1958 thru 1960 model years at the moment . Even builtups it's not exactly a cheap undertaking . I never imagned a 1960 Buick would sell for nearly a C note Bid on a 1958 Buick convetible last week and was blown out of the water when it sold for over $100
  11. Got my Ebay purchase this week. Going to get started on it after the 1st of the year
  12. I am looking at some old kits and the glass is fogged up . is this normal and is there anything that can be done to bring back the clarity?
  13. I would say it's pretty typical Johan interior . Once assembled it looks pretty good though. Like I said ,,, I don't do contests. My builds are for my shelf and if I can look in my case and see what I was trying to replicate,,all is good
  14. My parts box,,,with no idea the original source . I just found some slicks that looked the part and fit the wheels I was using. And hand painted the whitewall. They are probably to narrow ,I think they are about 1/4" wide ?????? but 100% accuracy is not my goal. as long as it looks the part I'm good with it and I dont do contests.
  15. I saw this one last week and I keep thinking I need to build this one
  16. I've used Duplicolor rattle cans on about every kit I've built in the past 3 or 4 years . More paint for about the same price and almost endless color choices . All sprayed right out of the can,,, The few times I do need laquer I buy the cheap qt cans from tractor supply
  17. So true, when I try organize anything.I cant find squat I'll find it,,,,,,, when I go looking for something else
  18. You mean I have to keep track of all this stuff ,, I am so doomed. When I do, I like the plastic bin drawers for smaller parts . The ones with maybe 12 to 45 clear drawers in them . For partial / or semi complete kits I use the larger standup drawer sets. The ones with 3 or so drawers in the them where you can get 3 or 4 kits in one drawer . Or I'll use one model kit box with multiple like partial kits in it.
  19. I have always prefered plastic to resin if I can get one for similar or even slightly more cash outlay I had been looking for 1961 Dodge and really prefered to get an original kit. But,,,,,The original kit kept selling for more than I was willing to spend . ( built or unbuilt ) Ended up finding a pretty good deal on a slightly distressed promo. I ended up using a Lindberg 64 Dodge chassis under it
  20. Just went thru this entire thread ,,,all I can say is,,,,,WOW
  21. Holy smokes, That is realy nice. I rememer seeing an fuelie Impala many years ago at a local Concors show and figured it had to be a pretty low production model. Same guy had a fuelie Chrysler and another big bodied fuel injected Gm that if I remember right I think was a Cadillac or maybe a Buick ??? Thats probably been over 15 years ago , haven't seen any of the bunch since
  22. nope, have zero interest in models of modern cars. I know there is a market for such,,,its just not my style
  23. Well,,,,,,,,,,I do need some inspiration to dig out my Revell 1959 Vette,
  24. I used the chassis from the AMT 1968 Roadrunner under an MPC 1970 Charger. fit like a glove Also did the same chasis under a Johan 1970 Superbird ,,its a long way from done so I cant comment from fit issues just yet. And i'm using the chassis from the AMT 1970 Challenger under an MPC 1970 Challenger.
  25. Very nice,,, One of my favorite cars to replicate . I have a the Comet on my short list to do . Although I keep leaning towards the white car version. Then I see one done like this and start to rethink my color choices
