  1. Many thanks for the feedback. There is one on eBay built and it looked out of scale to me. I think I may wait and pick one up at a show when I can do an inspection first. I am really getting into these 50s and 60s big cars.
  2. Looking for some feedback on whether this kit is any good or not. This one
  3. Got the body polished out last night and wow it looks great. I think the cars owner will be happy with it. Its the same paint I used to spray the trunk of the 1/1 this week. Just a straight single stage enamel with 3 coats of clear then polished. Need to pick up some paint this weekend so I can paint the kickpanel area of the side panels in a flat black then install the dash and the interior is done .
  4. My only real issue is the fear of going off track along where I am trying to cut..and the blade goes off and leaves a mark in the paint. Otherwise it's my least favorite part of building. Yet I don't have a problem taking days or weeks detailing an engine to the ninth degree. Something about the tedious task of BMF work drags me down. And is my least favorite part of building.
  5. I have the MPC 1970 and 1972 , neither have any kind of bumper gaurd on them . I dont have one handy but I dont think the Johan 71 does either. I cant answer about the MPC 73 or 74 kits.,,,dont have any of them anymore. I have a couple of the amt snap kits and a few of the molded in blue HEMI Cuda kits ,,,and they all have the gaurds on them
  6. Here is a comparison pic of an original MPC 1970 versus a 1972 , if it helps . Your grille looks pretty good to my eyes
  7. What years ?
  8. Cool car. 24 hours ? .....I'm floored I would love to take a ride in one of these cars
  9. Anyone else easily distracted,, I know I am Short story . I restore classic cars fulltime . And I am currently restoring a 1968 Charger RT 440 4spd car for a customer This week I was cutting in the insides of the doors when I realized I had paint left over. And this got me to thinking,,,oh why not !!!!!!! Sooooo,, I dug out the Revell kit I had started on 2 or 3 years ago . Laid down some primer and shot color on it this week. That developed into spraying the interior, then the engine etc etc etc. All the while I have my 58 Buick and a 62 Dodge superstocker on the bench This isnt going to be a major drawout job,,,just a quickie ( thats my story and I'm sticking to it ) and then give it to the 1/1 cars owner The body in color
  10. Old magazine articles , old national dragster magazine. Old photos , internet forum boards but mostly the voices in my head
  11. Looking pretty good so far. But a bit of info if I may. The depth relationship of the ft of the headlight to the forward edge of the fender is the exact same depth on a 1970 versus 72-74 . The only difference is the headlight door or bezel as its called are different between the 2
  12. Oh I am going to follow this one. As I have thought about doing one myself . And I remember that car well. The underhood was just plain nuts,,,but oh so cool
  13. Looking fantastic so far. Love the color combo. And what's not to like about any 50s fin car. I know I have been on a buying binge lately to get all kinds of late 50s to early 60s fin cars.......but I actually prefer the convertibles if I can get them
  14. I've seen this ardun head car in person,, pictures simply do not do it justice. And I'm not a street rod fan
  15. I think its a great time to be in the hobby. As far as dark times I dont know as I've never really looked at it that way. I like model cars,,,,If it interested me. I bought was what avail at the time and was happy about it . If it wasnt 100% correct , I didnt care and still don't. btw . As an example the rear tires in the Revell Thunderbolt kit are way to big for a true replica of the actual car. ,,,That sure didnt stop me from buying over a dozen of them ,,,,and I have 2 built and decals to do nearly a dozen more The 65 Plymouth and Comet,,2 cars that were never produced back in the day ,,both of which I want badly . I might even get a couple of the Pontiacs just for giggles .
  16. Exacly what I was thinking. Looks like every square inch of thebody is covered in decals. I like watching the Gymkana vides
  17. Its my understanding the wheel Stockton produced ( Or was it Wheel Vintiques ? , ) Either way the wheel has been dis-continued and is no longer being produced . The new version was an all new tool for the centers and attached to an already avail wheel band . The new one used commonly avail acorn lugnuts as opposed to the oddball recall wheel only lugnuts of the originals. When avail they were first avail in 15x7 with a chome wheel ,, but after a while they came out with a 15x6 in a black wheel and Hoffmans Winners Circle produced the OE style trim ring ,,which is what the originals were . None are avail today . the 14" versions are like looking for hens teeth ,,which is small bolt pattern only btw
  18. Yes. I foiled both the hood and trunk lettering. The nameplate on the forward edge of the ft fenders I left. They are gold and all I had was chrome BMF. Need to pick up some toothpicks so I can see if it worked. Ok, re-did some details on the dash . I want to add some beading wire to the door panels to replicate the chrome trim mldgs and flocking to the int floorboards . With it being a convertible the interior has to stand tall. But so far I REALLY like how its turning out . Comments good or bad welcome .
  19. My local hobby shop told me the 65 Plymouth is supposedly in the pipeline to be released in march He also told me the Lawman 64 Dodge is due about the same time anyone able to confirm ,one way or the other ?
  20. Got the seats taped up ( that wasnt fun at all ) Did the centers in white . Dash cluster bezel is highlighted in silver , I wanted to do it in BMF, but after 3 or 4 attempts to get it to lay down,, I gave up and dug out testors silver. Need to highlight the gauge faces . And do some flocking for carpet then the interior is done. .Unless I can come up with a better way to replicate the chrome trim on the door panels .The molded in lines were almost non existant . So I'm going to look in the beading isle at Micheals this week and see if I can get something small enough to look right Otherwise ,,,Next up. clear the body and start the BMF process
  21. Got a built up AMT 1959 Buick convertible in the mail today. Also picked up a started but complete Johan Maverick pro stock over the weekend. ..for $20
  22. Got it taped up and airbrushed in the red , interior painted same color , Duplicolor flame red Boot is just a touch darker . Inserts of the seats will be white
  23. Well, It may have survived 56 years with no paint on it. That came to an end over the weekend. Its now in black . Once dry I'll tape it back off and spray the red side coves. then clear coat. then set it aside for a while to really dry so I can start the task of the BMF work ( not looking forward to that ) Top boot is just one coat of Tamiya TS33 flat dark red. It flowed out pretty well and gives a pleated leather look to it
  24. Thansk for the links. I have these aready ( fyi, which were never factory installed in any mopar ) I need the OEM installed type I shown above. I never even thought about the Polar Lights 65 Dodge snap kit ,,,I have 3 or 4 of them on hand ,,,,,,,Yeaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. I have 2 or 3 of the 71 Dusters. would like to find a couple of the 71 Challengers
