Looking good so far. I built one of these a year or so ago. And it's one of my favorite cars in my display case

Do you have kits that you avoid building?
gtx6970 replied to JTalmage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a few kits I will not build due to collectable value or sentimental value. But none due to complexity or lack there of. If I doubt the kit will represent what I want it to look at once completed,, I either A - don't buy it in the 1st place or B - don't keep it once I buy it. So basically with exception to maybe a half dozen kits I own,,,ALL are workbench bound ,,,someday -

gtx6970 replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
All the major model manufacturers could take a couple years off and I would still be good. I already have more than I'll probably ever build anyway -
Yes, The problem with most ( if not all ) of the MPC funnycar kits, they were just stock wheelbase promo bodies on a generik funnycar chassis. At least the Pro stock kits were a tad more accurate
-
nope, they are right for the year

Actually, In 1964 the cap is black ( tan caps arived in 1966 ( maybe late 1965) Dist should also be black , as the OE dist used was supplied by prestolite , which were painted black steel housings

1965 Mopar Altered Wheelbase Cars
gtx6970 replied to jjsipes's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The Mr Norms blue and silver car was the Color me Gone car ,,just relettered The Sox and Martin car became the Buckeye and Vernon - Mr 4speed car Charlie Allens 1965 Dodge Sedan Koffels - Maloney Plymouth 1965 -
The Mopar built car is/was a hardtop.
-
The Sedan shown above started life as a regular 1965 RO Super Stock car as shown,,I don't think it was in this conifiguration for very long. As most pictures I have on it are as a AFX car
-
Keep in mind this is the sedan,,, aka Paper Tiger II . Which was a shop built car ,, All the Mopar OEM built cars were hardtops
-
I have an RT/SE in the shop ( real one,) real V code,,, 440 six pack 4 spd car If desired I can get some measurements of the rear window opening
-
I have a few pictures of the sedan and a few others . But but basically, just like mentioned. they just moved the whole shock tower plate forward and welded in flat sheetmetal where it used to be ( sometimes ) will post what I have later this evening
-
The style of and where you mount the coil ( or coils ) depends A LOT on the era of build your trying to replicate.
-
I like it......A lot. I think this kit is a lot better than it gets credit for. This just goes to show how well it can be made to look with just the slightest bit of work . Well done

1965 Plymouth Hits a Tree
gtx6970 replied to 1930fordpickup's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I see an air cleaner for a single 4 barrel wedge motor,,IMO I doubt 150mph is /was possibile .I could maybe see the tires getting to 150, but how long would they survive at that speed ???? IMO,,,,,, No way that car hit one single tree and damaged that car in the way shown. Something tells me there is more to this story than whats written. -
A friend of mine owns one of the former Grotheer cars. It's a white 1971 Hemi cuda. And is the car that Plymouth sent Don as a carrier / supplier of everything required to dress out the body in white used as and also supplied by chrysler that was destined to be used as the actual race car. He has come to know and regard MR Grotheer as a friend and in multiple conversations to the subject. ALL Grotheer race cars were some shade of Blue, white and orange . He will ask about the possibilty to a show car and/or race painted black

Serious modeler envy
gtx6970 replied to MustangGuy23's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Amen,,, Sometimes I wish I didn't have the stash I have now. ( but not enough to give it all away though ) It might give me more incentive to actually build something -
Unfortunately, I think I will as well. Although I've received everything I've bought in the past ,,, I would rather not push my luck. Sad part is they have some pretty nice and unusual items no avail anywhere else .

Ok, thats clears it up . I saw all the pics and thought they were supposed to all be the same kit just different decals/ boxes. ( sorry, I don't build dragsters ,,only reason I have the Ramchargers FED is bacause ,,,,,,it's the Ramchargers ) Is the Tommy Ivo and Ramchargers the same kit ?
