  1. Wow, small world. I know the place well ( now closed btw) The trains and hobbies dept asst mgr is a good friend of mine. Me personally. I have always considered it a hobby. or more of something I like to do with free time. I like all kinds of cars, primarily Mopar stuff ( especailly old drag carsof all makes ) and models are A LOT cheaper . Although I can understand how some might think of it as art, I never have.
  2. Nice looking car. Looks pretty good as a plain white wrapper. These are probably one of my favorite kits to build.
  3. I hate to say this , but the subject matter is of no interest to me. (Sorry guys ) But WOW , watching this come together has me in awe
  4. I look for uniformity for the display shelf just as much as accuracy. I want all my builds to represent the intended subject in the same scale .
  5. I looked at a Hubert Platt replica many years ago and it was more of a turquose in color I am pretty sure I used a testors color, but don't rememeber what I used
  6. And a decent looking builtup just ended tonight so now,,,,,,,I have 2 of them.
  7. same here, I had one and sold it when I got the chance. It was a really thick slush cast piece and I had a feeling it was not going to be an easy build I have ONE original issue Johan kit and would 'like' to have at least 2 or 3 more.
  8. One of the re-issued Johan 1961 Dodges . I can't buy a resin kit for what I paid for it. It's going to become an old war horse..
  9. Which body is it scaled to fit ? Revel, Johan or the MPC kit ? or does it matter. I have a few of each and never did a comparison to ck body demensions differences
  10. Resin or plastic body? If resin do you know who the manufacturer is/was ? I have a couple extra of the polar lights snap kits and have been thinking about making my own .

  14. Having flipped / resold dozens of kits over the years considering how many kits I have and/or sold at a loss . I have serious doubts I'm in the black. If I seel a kit , as long as I'm happy withmy sale price, I could care less what the new owner does or doesn't do with it. If he thinks they can re-sell it at a profit , all the power to them. If I'm buying and I'm happy with my purchase price, I could care less what the seller made on it.

  17. I have decals to do maybe 3 or 4 more cars, but I know there are more decals than that avail. This is just off the top of my head and I have 'most' of these on hand to do,, or already done.   19. Well, until I find some of the smaller sponser decals it needs. And do some small touchup for some nicks in the paint. I'm calling this one, done. Decals came from Decals By Lucas. And I highly recomend them. Paint is simple Duplicolor rattle can with UPOL rattle can urethane clear over it Except for the decals and A pre-wired dist from MAD. , it's essentially box stock . I have to admit,, This is the 1st model I've done completely start to finish this decade. But I'm happy with it. And it looks killer with the others on the shelf. Hope you like it . Bill
  20. Nope, Monogram hood is wider and longer.,,,, maybe 1/8" each way. It can be narrowed a bit to solve the width part. But I think then the width of the scoop becomes a factor for scale .Then the raised center section of the hood is to long to shorten the hood to make it work
  21. Although there were exceptions,, most funnycar bodies back then used an overall stock length body ( measured bumper to bumper ) with just the ft wheelwells moved forward to accomodate the longer wheelbase.

  23. Not sure that I agree , but i'll give it to you. I will say both scales have there place. I choose 1/25th scale simply because most of what I build are older kits,, which in most cases is all there was back then. Case in point, set a MPC/AMT Daytona kit along side a Monogram Superbird and the differences are huge Here's a scenario most builders face. Your trying to put a replica stock shelf of Mopar kits together of each model - each year. You buy the Monogram 1969 Superbee and a 1970 GTX kit to fill some holes , You already have the AMT 1968 Roadrunner , AMT 1969 GTX and an AMT 1970 Superbee done. Once you put the builds all on one shelf and the different scales stick out like a sore thumb. This exact scenario has me looking for a Johan 1970 GTX and MPC 1969 Coronet builders Here is a solid comparison of 2 kits. 1/24th scale Monogram 1970 GTX (lime light car) versus 1/25th scale Johan 1970 Roadrunner( same as a gtx btw) There is easily a 7/16" to 1/2" difference in overal length and I would say 3/16" difference in width of the body measured at the widest point on each
  24. White body is monogram 1970 Cuda body , which is considered/accepted to be reasonably accurate for the subject matter. Yellow painted body is an original MPC 1970 Cuda , again considered to be the benchmark dimensions wise OAL is nearly 3/8" of difference. width is about 3/16" difference .
