I managed to get a little bench time this week . Did a test fit on the interior only to find out it's to thick to fit up in the body. So I thinned the top edges of the interior panels ever so slightly. Essentially took half the thickness off of them . Then once the wheels were dry and the rolling stock was on, I did a test fit to make sure I liked the stance it has. And I do. So hopefully I can get the BMF on the trim maybe this weekend and get this one wrapped up maybe next week or so. Comments welcome. and Thanks for looking. -
Like already said. clean it up and display it proudly. no way on gods green earth would I take it apart for a redo. I have about a dozen old builtups that either I've built or I bought as already done. I've taken them down off the shelf numerous times to redo one or two, and I can't do it and they always go right back on the shelf with maybe just a dusting. Right alongside with much higher quality builds I have.

Need Pics of Tommy Grove's 1971 Mustang F/C for build
gtx6970 replied to Pro Tech's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Interesting and it makes it clear -, do the reserach on how they looked back then. Shown here are at least 3 different variations of the same car/driver At least 2 different colors of blue with a boss 429 in one and a 427 cammer motor in the other the one pic it looks like a dark metallic color yet in others it looks more like grabber blue. I for one am looking forward to seeing this one come together. found this one - supposed to be the 71 car -

Not sure how much help they might be, but these are the only ones I have of the 71-73 body style -
General suggestion when showing your models.....

I'll use different colors of heavy craft paper as a back drop. or just a white Tee shirt thrown over an arm chair works just as well -
I have the 65 Dodge from RMR, but mine is a 4 door . Nice resin casting, Not perfect but very workable . especially considering the alternatives ( which is modelhause or nothing as far as I know ) I think it was $35 plus postage for the cab and grillebumper pieces with an interior tub. I bought it less bed as mine gets the one shown

Looks killer, and if it's not fun, to me theres no point. I would be interested in a copy of the vega sheets , just in case.

Here it is just stuck in a body. Don't get me wrong, considering the options this might be a viable alternative for some. And I may use it yet. But, I myself would rather pay more for better quality and/or for a full body already done

I have to admit, that looks pretty good. I have the grille and tail conv set. and to me the grille just looks to shallow. I want to do several 71 challenger pro stocks and I'm not having much luck coming up with any original MPC builders. I have an extra mpc 1970 and several 72-74 builders I can use for parts. so I am going to try a Modelhause body and see what it gets me http://www.modelhaus.com/index.php?c=4082&p=67632

When I read scratch building , you wasn't kidding :o -
I have the sixpack duster hood and the 1969 Six pack Roadrunner hoods, both are decent,,, not perfect,,, but workable The 71 challenger conversion on the other hand , IMO, needs serious work to make it usuable

Got the crossram Hemi primered and painted in the correct race Hemi orange color, which is a lighter orange with a lot of yellow in it compared to normal strret hemi orange. And with the black valve covers it should look pretty good in the white engine bay. But after looking at the dinky little dist and cap from the kit. So I decided not to use it. And I decided to go aftermkt and not to keep it a 100% out of the box build. Just yesterday I got in some of the prewired dists from MAD. But Those little black dist cap boots install was kinda tough to put on. So I think maybe a lighted magnifying glass is in my future. The spark plug wiring tubes are just crimp tubes from the Michaels. I might crimp them down so they're more oval than round, and maybe paint them black I've decided the Dodge boys car will be a finish it build for later this fall after 1/1 car show season dies down. I've been swamped the past few weeks. I sell restoration parts and supplies for Mopar muscle cars and show / swap meet season is in full swing right now. In addition to working on full size cars in my own shop. So bench time is imited. -

Modelhaus Order Question
gtx6970 replied to 71drolds's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The times I did buy from Modelhause, it was at a show. Every item I've bought from them has been top shelf quality. But I prefer to put my hands on something made via the aftermkt if at all possibile. If the reputation is good ( Holthause is one of them ) . I will make exceptions to this,,,,within limits . I've bought several resin items from Missing link and have each and every piece in my hand under a week ( usually 2 or 3 days) they are also in that 'no worries 'catagory . I ordered a body from Competition Resin a few months ago, day of order to day of delivery was about 2 1/2 weeks. Same deal, no worries. Recently received a Flintstone body and had I seen it in person first I would not have bought it. I sell parts for vintage muscle car restoration supplies/parts. and if I took nearly 2 months to complete said sale. I would get burned at the stake. -
