This is just the unbuilt Johan stack . ( thats the only picture I have of the unbuilt stuff ) I have maybe another dozen or so unbuilt Johan mixed Pinto/Mustang/Challenger funnycar kits in unmarked boxes. All told just the shelves area has approx 10 - 11 kits wide, 3 kits deep 8 or so kits tall, multiplied by 3 shelves in my stash . Including, Johan, AMT, MPC and Revell, with just a splash of Monogram kits for good measure . Then there are maybe another 2 or 3 dozen builtups. Most of them are Old Johan / MPC annuals +/or drag car kits. My storage spot is 8 ft high, 4 ft wide and 3 kits deep in most places

I can assure you, if it's being made - it will be profitable. Manufactures pay big money to marketing people for it not to be. And I'd bet everything I own manufactures/marketing people monitor boards like this ( in silence) to insure it will be from the get go . 2nd , as far as re-issues most likely the tooling for a re-issued kit has long since paid for itself . so the more they can get out of it with minimal upkeep AND said product continues to sell. they'll just keep popping them out . 3rd - as far modern new tools , I can assure you if it's all possible,,,, the tooling is up-datable to make subtle revisions and introduce another variation of said subject.

Not here yet. But just bought a sealed Heller Hispano Suiza K6 for 'my later on projects' It'll go into my 'classics stash' for later on. I want to get about a half dozen more different cars from the 30's just for the fun of it

I used to love building models

Next time your at a model show.swap meet. Look around . It seems the majority of the crowd has grey +/or thinning hair. It's the same thing happening at the 1/1 shows. I closed my hobby bench nearly 10 years ago to take time off ( life, with 2 very active daughters and starting my own business just got in the way ) and after just coming back to it in the last 12 months, I figured out real quick I can't see the small things like I used to ( drilling holes in dist caps is a thing of the past for me now) So doing super detailed projects with lots of little photo-etched pieces is no longer for me. We all have to enjoy it anyway we can ,,,,while we can ......... -
Sorry, but no. The only thing I am using out of the AMT kit is the engine/trans the decals and the 2 ft seats. The chassis pictured and I have for this one is the original plain old MPC version and I want to use it . The remainder of the AMT kit will be used to build a Sox and Martin Duster sometime in the near future. Thanks ,,,, considering the body was painted in the late 80's and stuffed in a box ever since,,, it's held up well . Even though it's not real super shiny but it wasn't bad enough I felt the need to strip it and repaint it. I think it's just testors orange enamel . Interior was just painted last week, and I decided after looking at the AMT box art this color exterior would be so much brighter with a white interior. It was missing the tail lights lens so I ordered a set from Missing link last night. And If all goes well , it will be done by Christmas,,,,, as kind of a gift to myself !

Looks like a cool idea with all the different styles in one thread All finished this year. That doesn't mean they were started this year. These 2 were not even started this decade , let alone this year. But Hey, they're finished this year so it counts These last 2 were completed beginning to end this year.

Thanks all. It confirmed my suspicions . I have a couple of the Blueprinter issues ( hood molded shut) I guess I'll just cut the hood out of it and set the body- interior on a different chassis I want to use a resin thunderbolt / tear drop style hood in it's place.

I stumbed onto this one day last week in my stash while looking for something else , and completely forgot I even had it . I bought this a LOOOOOONG time ago ( mid -late 80s) from a friend of mine. It came to me with the body , hood and chassis already painted, it doesn't look to bad so that part will stay as is. It's an original issue MPC 1971 Duster annual builtup. I dug it out and decided it has sat long enough. So I got to working on it over the weekend . Did the bare metal foil trim on the body and and I'll leave the body exactly the way I bought it many years ago. I painted the interior in a dulled white with just a few details picked out with detail paint. Decals are from the current AMT duster kit. Still undecided if I'l use the grossly undersized MPC engine or use the engine/trans from the current AMT version,,,,,,,. Either way it WILL be done by the weekend .

Is there avail a version of the 1964 Ford Galaxie that the hood is NOT molded in with the body (aka promo style ) ??? I have a couple of the old AMT blue printer kits and the hood is molded shut,,, but I would prefer an open hood version if there is one avail with a reasonable effort .

This is one of my favorite builds ever. This one was from the beginning to be a get it started to get it done in a timely fashion with out a lot of drama or delays. I never knew this car even existed till I saw another members build ( caine440 ) and I could not get it out of my mind. It was about this same time I stumbled onto a promo on ebay and a light bulb went off that I couldn't get to go out. It started out as a re-issued Johan promo that I think is an 80's release that is actually stryene instead of the original warp prone acetate. Chassis is just a simple slammed together from the Lindberg 1964 Dodge with the 8-3/4 rear axle from the Revell Dart. I might someday add some paint detail to the underside ( doubt it ) Hood is molded shut and it will stay that way, so there is no engine in it .It's a curbside. Paint is Duplicolor white laquer sprayed straight from the rattle can with UPOL rattle can urethane clear. Lettering is for now just some clear address labels I drummed up and printed off on my computer till the actual water slide decals show up,,, but visually nothing will change. Its not perfect but I am really pleased with the finished product. Enjoy, I know I sure did. This was my ultimate goal.

You want my address to send that to so it will FINALLY get finished ???????

I'm not a vette guy so bear with me. ( I think the only vette I have on my shelf is the MPC Malco Gasser ) So ! I ask ,,,,,,, is this version really that much better than any previous AMT / MPC issue ? If so how ? Like mentioned , a hardtop is/would be a must have for me. so for me to buy one thats whats it's going to take
