mustang1989 Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I've been eyeballing this kit on the internet and have really been thinking about getting one. I might wait just a bit though. I swear if my wife see's one more kit in the mail I'm gonna get it! Great progress so far!

DaveM Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 We had a small , informal "club" of three or four builders, plus a couple of kids. I was always picking up kits for the group, and we would always combine postage and order a few kits together. I used the increased number of kits coming through the house to mask any new acquisitions. Then, she volunteered to act as ordering secretary for the club, and manage the orders and monies. (She is in purchasing and acquisitions in her job) Then, she knew exactly what kit was ordered for whom... Now, I just try to finish two kits for every one I buy, or sell off a bunch every now and then to keep some balance. I have three of the truck kits coming in, so I might have to give her a gift certificate for shoes. (Then she feels too guilty about her stash to complain about mine!)

rsxse240 Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 This is going to be one kit I'm getting weather it makes the wife mad or not and I'm getting at least 3 of them, dangit!
AzTom Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 It does look like a great kit. Having owned two 1:1 Ford pickups it is a must have for me. So far I have one of each coming. My wife is good with it, she gave up several thousand pieces ago,lol
mustang1989 Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) Tell her that you saw it along the road, & petted it. It must have followed you home. LOL. :-) LOL. . My wife is fairly supportive of my hobby. I usually build WWII aviation stuff but within the last year I have re-discovered automotive modeling and have gotten more kits this year than the all of the last three years. I've gotten just about all of the scale kits that I had as a kid and then some is all. I dare say I've purchased 25+ kits in the last 6 months. lol. Now this one's on the radar screen. At a rate of no more than two builds a year (and sometimes just one) I've got enough to keep me busy for a while. Edited June 16, 2015 by mustang1989
SteveG Posted June 18, 2015 Author Posted June 18, 2015 Other then painting the wheels and permanently attaching them, the chassis and drive-train are done. I'm working on getting all the paint work done starting with the interior. The lighter color on the dash and door panels is 71 Ford Code Q Winter Blue Metallic. It will be one of the exterior colors with other being Code C Pure White. The Medium Blue used on the trim parts is from my stock of leftover colors. I still have to paint the sun visors which will also be Medium Blue. Here's a quick interior mock up, I still have to add the foil trim and paint details ..... I'm going to jump on getting the body panels painted and will finish up the interior while it's drying. Stay tune for more .... -Steve
hjracing Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Nice color choices, keep updates coming.... :-) X2!
slusher Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Real nice progress and work. Interior is looking great..
Olskoolrodder Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Oh I HAVE to watch this one (just now came across it),looking great so far,my friend, keep it coming!
AzTom Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 The interior looks great. Really like how you kept the dash flat. I think that is the same blue my 82 F-150 had
my80malibu Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 (edited) The dash is missing the defroster vents, like this one. Edited June 22, 2015 by my80malibu
blunc Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) I think I may have to get a couple of these to keep on the back shelf... before their molds start to degrade. I'm a little saddened by the lump they put under the air cleaner, I'm guessing they think no one will want to build theirs without an air cleaner on the motor. Edited June 29, 2015 by blunc
SteveG Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 anymore updates coming? Yes, If it ever stops raining in Northeast Ohio. It's been too humid to paint. I did manage to sand and re-prime all the body parts last weekend. I also decided to use the tailgate decal so I shaved the "FORD" lettering off of it. I'm hoping for break this weekend but so far the forecast is for more rain .... -Steve
