Greg Myers Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 It was less than a week when WalMart had to pull their new model paint section. Sad.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 (edited) It's a pain going to Walmart buying model stuff. First, they don't have kits anymore, and second, I can't even buy a can of paint myself. They're thinking I'm going to huff it or something, so you have to be 18 to buy it. I talked to one of the employees one time about the model situation, and he said how he didn't know why they stopped carrying them as they always sold out in a timely fashion. Maybe the stereotyping of people who buy super glue and spray paint is the cause. As for the paint, I've tested colors before by spraying some into my palm! Edited May 19, 2015 by chunkypeanutbutter
Snake45 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I'd been looking at a sad, opened box Revell '68 Corvette at my local Walmart for three or four months. I just happen to need a few random '68 Vette parts so I thought I'd see if they'd sell it to me cheap. I opened the box and determinded that what I needed was in there (although the INSTRUCTIONS are missing!) and took it to the customer service desk. Was gonna offer them $5 for it, maybe go to $8 or even a tenner but they had to call the CS manager who told me no, they couldn't sell it to me at a discount. This was about six weeks ago. It's still sitting on the shelf.Meanwhile, I went to AC Moore and bought one with a 50% discount coupon for around $12.
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 "At the paint rack. Why?" Cause there's a whole lotta stupid around, that's why...stupid with zero respect for other people's property, rights, or just knowing how to act like a human being.

drball Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 It got to the point in the city limits of Chicago that you cannot buy spray paint at a store.

Jon Haigwood Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 They can have my Spray Paint when hey can pry it from my cold red hand

As a former retail employee let me explain why stores won't sell busted things at a discount. When something on the floor gets broken or damaged the store claims it as broken and gets their money back from the manufacturer, at Kmart we had a girl who's entire job was to collect the UPC's from damaged items to get refunds. The manufacturers evidently put up with this to keep their items on the stores shelves. Not discounting broken items also discourages customers from breaking items to buy them cheaply. Once the claim had been filed for the item part of the agreement with the manufactuer was that the item would be completely destroyed, once a week or so we drug all of the claimed items out into the back parking lot and smashed them with sledge hammers. I've broken down dented file cabinets, dented microwaves, gun cabinets with cracked glass, various small home appliances, furniture, all kinds of stuff. This was also intended to deincentivize dumpster diving, everything we threw away was broken beyond use.
Jon Haigwood Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Years back I read where stores like KMart found models that had been opened they would toss them in the dumpster and fill a refund as explained above. I asked them if I could buy them and was told no. It was suggested that Y find out when they tossed them out and do some dumpster diving but not knowing the legalities of doing this and not likening the idea of being in a garbage can I refrained from such activity.
1930fordpickup Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 A very large number of stores use a Point of Purchase system. To put it the way it was explained to me, the store does not pay for the item until you pay for it at the register. Even busted things are sold at full price., They want you and I to send it back to the Manufacture for a refund. Just look at most instructions anymore, they say right inside do not return damaged merchandise to the store of purchase.
Maindrian Pace Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Because the worst that humanity has to offer has to shop somewhere. I go there as little as possible, but when I do, it's always a stunning display.
jbwelda Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Wow! Stupid people at WalMart! Who could have imagined it! I thought it was a prerequisite for walking in the front doors. That doesn't look like a "model paint" section...it looks like a hardware paint section or section for taggers. Where were all the "associates" when the paint was spraying? Oh that's right, they laid them off. WalMart: selling your country down the crick one 5 cent discount at a time. jb
1930fordpickup Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 So what are these taggers people are talking about? Help the old guy out.
Drake69 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 (edited) So what are these taggers people are talking about? Help the old guy out. The non-gang affiliated kind... Edited May 19, 2015 by Drake69

Danno Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 So, once again, the lowest-common-denominator retards ruin it for everyone else... True that. In fact, it pretty much explains just about every stupid rule or regulation.
wayne swayze Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Paint is locked up everywhere I go. Shouldn't the paint be on an open shelf and the morons behind bars? Just sayin'.
drball Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Come to Ohio spray paint is everywhere Do you mean in the stores or on the buildings, signs and overpasses.
misterNNL Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 You can't fix stupid.......but you CAN numb it with a piece sized piece of two by four !
DrGlueblob Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Please correct me if I'm mis-informed, but spray paint is required to be locked up EVERYWHERE in Arizona.
