Jon Cole Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I cannot say for sure if this is relevant for model builders who purchase online and pay via PayPal, but I thought it should be shared in case it is. PayPal’s New Terms Of Service Mean More Robocalls, Spam Texts For Usershttp://consumerist.com/2015/06/02/paypals-new-terms-of-service-mean-more-robocalls-spam-texts-for-users/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=socialflow
plastic trucker Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 How do I get my number away from them so that I don't get called?
Quick GMC Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 How do I get my number away from them so that I don't get called? verbally abuse them when they call
AzTom Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 They are assuming a lot in that article. I don't think its any different than your bank. I have had Paypal since it's beginning and have never received a call from them.
Belugawrx Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 If... a human being calls >>> I like to tell them "I'm busy,..If you give me your personal ph#, I will gladly call you back,...say around 7:00,...or whenever you feel like making dinner"
Crazy Ed Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 If it's a Human, ask'em to hold on for a second then set the phone down and walk away.
Snake45 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I have had Paypal since it's beginning and have never received a call from them. Me neither.
Rob Hall Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Meh...just alarmist speculation. I've never had a call from PayPal and never had any problems with them...been using them for years on eBay and other websites. Been very reliable.
Tom Geiger Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Me either. Had Paypal since the inception, never had phone contact with them. They have split off from eBay so there have been questions on the eBay boards about how they'll interact with your auctions and if anything will change.
Skip Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 There was a news story about this on one of the Seattle Stations. PayPal was indeed considering the Robo-Call Pestering of their customers/users. From what the news said about it. PayPal received so much negative feedback from members calling them directly, it tied up their switchboards for quite awhile. From the story it sounded like both eBay and PayPal both would encounter a huge hit on their membership numbers, based on that feedback; right now it's doubtful that PayPal will engage in Robo-Calling its members in the near future. Probably subject to change depending on the way they feel the next week!
chunkypeanutbutter Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Robocalls. Tish-pshaw. When they call, I break out the Arnold Schwarzenegger voice. I've asked many a telemarketer where John Connor is.
Atmobil Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I'm not really worried about it, I have never recived a call from them and I don't really see why they should start calling me either. I'm also protected against phonesellers in a registry so if any seller is calling I can report the company that called.
High octane Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Hmmm, I don't have a Pay Pal account, and it seems to be working out well for me.
JTalmage Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I don't want to jinx it... but I've had said application of that name for a very long time, and never once received any sort of communication other than emails. It also helps that you put very limited information in there when you sign up.
martinfan5 Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 (edited) whoops, double post Edited June 10, 2015 by martinfan5
Harry P. Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I've never received a call from PayPal... been using them for years. This is what happens when some "expert" puts something up on the web and everyone takes it seriously without any real, solid knowledge of the situation.
Roadrunner Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 How do I get my number away from them so that I don't get called? Give them a bogus number to begin with. I never give my real number when registering anywhere, it's none of their stinking business.
