Hey Rob, are we titling our under glass threads anything special?

That's up to you Clay. I'm not going to finish in time so I probably won't put anything in the title.

looks like your close. Id title it 3 day build almost. Use the picture of what it looked when you stopped and then the final pictures and how much more time.

Ok. I'll figure something out to incorporate the CBP title.

Well, I've been stumbling along with the Meyer Manx. Nearly everything is painted and I've started assembly. This is an AMT kit, but you'd think it was an old Revell tool for all the fiddly-ness (if that's a word..)! No wonder kids turned to drugs in the '60s!

Many parts don't have a sure fit, just instructions that point to a spot to glue it to. That includes the headlights that are supposed to just stand on top the pedestals molded into the body. I will be drilling and pinning these. The steering gear colides with the place where the center structural member meets the steering assembly. I will be researching exactly how this sits, and will be fashioning it out of wire. Of course, not within the time frame of this build!

The final straw? I had the perfect color for the interior, Duplicolor Buckskin. Got about 3/4 through painting everything and fzzzzzz! the can runs out. A quick trip to Pep Boys provided no replacement. Yea, I could just pick the next beige and respray, but this color looks so nice next to the body. I will either find my color at another store, or another brand of that color.

So I will continue on with the Manx, but for now it's really nice outside...

The Chevy looks good Rob. Shame it won't be finished in time but your back (and wife) are more important.

I'm not sure if I'll be finished either. The interior parts are all detailed and assembled.

The foiling is still going on. If anything makes me over run that'll be it.

Here in the UK there's just over an hour to midnight. I'll take a couple of photos of where I'm up to and finish it tomorrow.

Everything looks great guys. Much better than mine. Too bad about the back Rob. Don't worry. It will get done.

I'm thinking that I will be able to finish. We will see

Guys seen some great work. The important thing is that you've had some fun. Just finish them up when you can. Its always nice to have another one off the pile and cokpleted on the shelf.

Ok friends, this GTO is as finished as I am allowing it to get. The paint job is totally botched. I primed it last evening, let it sit overnight. Sanded it a bit this morning, and shot Testors One Coat "Star Spangled Blue". I don't know if it is the paint and the primer not working together, or maybe that it was the VERY last dregs of paint in the rattle can, but the finish is bad and keeps getting worse.

On the positive side, I really had a blast doing this. As an adult modeler I have never finished a kit that quickly. Kudos to everyone who participated, great work one and all. Looking forward to other CBP's, just not ones with such a deadline perhaps. Thanks for your comments. The body is headed for a brake fluid bath, sigh. Sean.

p.s. Obviously a big part of the problem is that I hung way too much paint on this model, just rushing at the last minute and wanting to be done.

Take one tail lighy, one pen and a little determination

and this is the results.

Kit light on the left, mine on the right.

Just need to add a bit of Future polish.

I'm still in this. Got just a bit left.

I'm calling it. Life kept getting in the way this weekend. I have been waiting for the go ahead to apply for a new job that a friend of mine gave me the heads up on so that took some time today to prepare for, then had to return a tool to a friend.

I'll post tonight's doings tomorrow. Good fun though. Still proves I can crank out a decent looking kit in under a week. Should be done with this one by Tuesday I'd say. I'm pretty proud of that. Haven't done that in years.

I will continue on with the Manx an hour or two a night this week. Of course I will have to keep working my circus of a life. Tomorrow is my first day back in the office, after staying home to take care of my wife for a month. Then with all that going on I'm way behind on my yardwork. With the rainy weather, the weeds are winning. Beds that I cleared out a week ago already have weeds an inch or two tall!

A funny thing. Last night I lost a Cragar wheel. I looked for a bit, but gave up and went to bed. I have a second kit sitting there so I was just going to take one from there. This morning I did some wash. I go to move the wash from the washer to the dryer... what's sitting in the bottom of the washer? My wheel!

I'm in the same boat as you Tom, pretty much. I'm going back to work after a month off to help my wife with our first born and get her get back into the swing of things, after a c-section that got infected. But she doin better everyday, the baby is great. Time to go provide for them.

I FINISHED!! (At least with what comes in the kit. It still needs a license plate and at least one mirror. I also would like to spend a little time tweaking the front stance but probably wont.

This is a fun little kit. It wasn't too bad going together.I had originally bought this years ago to do an updated version of a Speed Buggy type of dunebuggy.

Thanks for all of the kind replies throughout. I had a blast and now have another kit for the shelf at work.

Good work everyone!

Bruce. I think I'd skip the clear and polish. Race cars don't usually worry about the shiny finish. Looks more realistic as-is.

I'm glad everyone liked it. And for those that have yet to finish like myself please feel free to continue to post in this thread.

Well, I'm sure Chuck or I will run it next year, but I'm not sure I'll participate. My wife was all supportive and understanding on Friday morning, but by Sunday morning her support and understanding had left for parts unknown. Sunday evening was sort of cool in the house if you get my drift. It was fun but in the end, I'm not sure it's worth what I'll be paying for the next week or so.

Here's what I managed to get done yesterday before calling it quits so I could get enough sleep. lol

I threw the front end/hood/interior on it just to see what it would look like... I cannot wait to finish it.

Managed to cut off the molded on distributor and replaced it w/ a M.A.D. distributor. I chose a tan cap and yellow wires for that 80's Accel ignition look!

20150705_125612_zpszsjv3pe2.jpg

Only thing I didnt like about the M.A.D. distributor is it didnt come w/ a hollow piece of tubing for the boots. So Luckily I had one leftover from a motorcycle I built for a friend, since I didnt have time to sit and strip the core out of the wire it came with.

Got it mounted in the chassis

and painted the trim black

Aaaaand thats when I thought it would be a good idea to sleep
