BARE METAL FOIL

Recommended Posts

To be honest. Even $9 per sheet isn't much. It lasts a while unless you are doing old Cadillacs or lots of classics. Plus it's nice to support your LHS.

I usually stock up om BMF when I visit my Mom in Michigan. There's a hobby shop near her in Grand Rapids called Rider's. They charge about $7.00 for BMF and they do mail orders.

I tried ordering once directly

But shipping was MORE than one sheet regardless of order.

Even ordering only One sheet, shipping was More than that 1 sheet

I think even ordering 4 sheets shipping made the total price DOUBLE

the cost of the BMF alone!

I can't afford that

Anyone know how to reduce the shipping cost??

There was No option the time I tried

I usually get mine @ Model Roundup. $6.99 a sheet.

I usually order at least a couple at a time along with some other stuff to cut down on shipping.

What he said B) And anytime I've ordered it it's fresh with no wrinkles.

BMF ultra bright chrome is garbage, Harry.

That's news to me. I use it all the time. Been using it for years without any problem. Guess I missed the memo telling us it's "garbage?"

Same ebay seller also sells all other varieties of BMF for the same price.

Maybe they improved it. I tried it a few years ago, no good.

Several years ago there was a problem with the adhesive they used not working very well. That's been fixed. Years ago.

I won't go as far as to call it garbage, but I tried it a couple of times over the years & never liked it either.

For me it was not the adhesive, but the thickness of the foil itself.

Harder to cut & didn't conform to detail as well.

I have not tried it in several years, so I suppose it may have gotten better.

But, I like the old stuff. I guess it's "new & improved" now. :)

I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I too, buy my BMF straight from the manufacturer. I tried the bright BMF when it 1st came out and it just didn't work.

I also recently had problems with the regular chrome foil. I had 2 sheets from 2009 and I couldn't use either of them. The foil would tear when I tried to peel it from the backing.

I bought some new BMF and the package said "Improved" Not sure how old it was, but the glue seemed a lot stickier then the old stuff.
