artecar24 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Well... new project! A custom version of '65 Rachero from a Trumpeter kit in 1:25 scale. Ideas to add besides what brings the kit, and first steps with the engine, adding "seam" to the gearbox and covering the joining engine parts with Evergreen. (Excuse me my english, please!) A short review of kit (spanish only) here: http://www.angelnoes.es/2015/06/1965-ford-ranchero-trumpeter-125.html
Sledsel Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Watching this build. Heard bad things but it sure looks good built.
cobraman Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I built the Falcon and as I recall it went together fine. I'll be watching your progress.
hjracing Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Great project Angel. Nice to hear about you again!
artecar24 Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 A small step further. Will nut, nut comes. I am using Evergreen plastic material.
Codi Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 And I thought I had patience Angel....that's alot of nuts and bolts. Will certainly follow along and see where you take it. The wheels do seem a bit too large though for the car...........just one mans opinion. Best of luck with the build! Cheers, Tim
artecar24 Posted June 27, 2015 Author Posted June 27, 2015 Engine acrilyc painting: (1) matt black, (2) black gray with dry brush, (3) gun metal to gearbox and bottom engine, (4) silver with dry brush to gearbox. Lines were made of silicone thread. @Codi, I'm still not convinced with these wheels.
artecar24 Posted June 28, 2015 Author Posted June 28, 2015 More progress with the engine. This helix is very rough, so I decide to change it a bit. Fan belts are elastic lines than you can find into the packaging toys.
artecar24 Posted June 29, 2015 Author Posted June 29, 2015 Description of progress (spanish text, sorry!): http://www.angelnoes.es/2015/06/ford-ranchero-65-trumpeter-125-motor.html
mike 51 Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Remember these Rancheros only had ONE gas tank door (on the driver's side IIRC) not two.
artecar24 Posted June 30, 2015 Author Posted June 30, 2015 The front axle is a absurdity in the model of Trumpeter. It what made no why from a mechanical point of view. Trumpeter solved on kit it like a toy. I thought about rebuilding the front axle and suspension but eventually just going to add any missing part and replace the damper. Too much work for a model with only pretend to have fun. (Sorry for my english, please!!!)
Deathgoblin Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Trumpeter kits tend to have some weird issues. The Monte Carlo wasn't bad except for the engine. I ended up using the engine out of the Revellogram MC SS. Their Bonneville ended up building up really well.
artecar24 Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 Thanks for words team! I continued working with the front axle and its suspension. Final version of shock and added some parts to "emulate" what is lacking in the kit. It is not very true, but it's a little more realistic. The brake discs also add, because the model does not. The next step is to simulate the ventilation holes and paint the whole black matte, then I will apply dry brush with black-gray matte.
artecar24 Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 And thinking on options... but no, no, no... It seems an australian farm version.
Deathgoblin Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 And thinking on options... but no, no, no... It seems an australian farm version. Am I weird for kinda liking that?
ChrisBcritter Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Not weird at all - but it makes me want to put it on a 4x4 Bronco chassis...
