According to this Revell box, they made a Pontiac Club de Mer, Lincoln Futura and a Continental. Anybody ever see the Continental? I never have.

Yes, but it was 1/32 scale. Other than the lack of glass and some fit issues around the grille/front bumper, it builds up well (I've reassembled a vintage builtup that had fallen apart).

Wasn't it reissued a few years ago along with some of the other 1/32 '56 kits?

The 1/32 scale Continental was reissued in the mid-Nineties, in the SSP program. A couple other 1/32 kits ('56 Ford convertible, custom-only '56 Chrysler) were also issued back then.

Yeah...when I first got back into this stuff around '05 or so, I started buying up everything that looked interesting, vintage, that I'd missed when I was young, or that I had when I was young. I bought one of the Mk II Continentals and didn't bother to check the scale on the auction site, assuming (stupidly) that because the packaging looked kinda like the 1/24-5 scale Caddy (OP photo). it must be the same scale.

Wrong. I was pretty bummed when I opened the box. Oh well. Pay attention, Bill.

Anyway, I sure wish there was one of these in 1/25 styrene.

I'm pretty sure there was a Buick and an F-100 in the 1/32 lineup too.

You and me both. If it had been scaled up to 1/25th, it would have been the equivalent of the '57 Country Squire as a collectible.

There was a Buick Century four-door hardtop in both '55 and '56, but that hasn't been reissued. The '56 Ford F-100 was 1/48 scale, like the White cabover gas tanker, Peterbilt semi, and the '55 Chevy stakebed (trying to find one of those now for a school bus conversion).

I knew there was a 1/32 Revell Continental. I guess there never was a 1/25 as implied on the side of the Eldorado box.

The only 1:25 scale '56 Lincoln Continental ever produced was a promo from AMT. Beyond that, Ideal Toy Corporation made a pretty nice 1:12 scale kit of one, complete with opening hood and doors--about the time frame that the real car was available--scarcer than hens' teeth now!

I built the Revell SSP Continental Mk II kit in the last ten years. Other than the lack of windows, I liked it. Mine looks great. I painted like the box art. Black with a red interior. I still have not finished the two figures that came with the kit. I need to do that one of these days.

There was a '55 Mercury(and I think a '56,too) in the 1/32 scale series.

There were '55 and '56 Mercurys, Buicks, Chrysler New Yorkers, Cadillac Eldorado convertibles, and Ford Sunliner convertibles in 1/32 scale that I know of. For both years. And the original releases of these kits were sold with both the Revell and AMT logos on the boxes. I have the reissues of the '56 Caddy and Ford convertibles, besides the Mark II. Again, I liked the kits. You'll hear a lot of people complain about the multi-piece bodies of these kits. I've had little to no trouble with them. One just has to take their time building them. They turn out okay.

The three 1/32 scale 56's I have were all reissues, brought back in the 1990's through Revell/Monogram's SSP program. With only the Revell logos on the box. They also rereleased the '56 Chrysler at the time. But it could not be built stock, so I passed on that one. As far as I know, the Mercurys and Buicks have not been reissued since the 50's. I'd buy them if they were (hint, hint, Revell).

Yours might have been the one I've seen because someone posted photos of one on here a while back that looked so nice it changed my mind about what I thought of these kits. Really quite nice in the hands of someone who's comfy with multi piece bodies.

Here's a copy of one of the original kits of the Continental that I got in a junk lot a few years ago.

There was a 1/25 scale promo, I believe R&R did a resin repop.

And here's two of the 1/32s that were mentioned in this thread. These were never reissued.

I've been keeping my eye on ebay for '57 Continentals for another of my somewhat demented customization ideas, and the Revell 1/32 scale kits seem to be continually appearing for not especially outrageous prices. For what I have in mind, a built junker might suit my purposes ok. Saw this usable $24.21 1/25th promo ebay listing just last week, probably should have snagged it...

For alternative's sake, more info on the quite pricy Franklin Mint 24th scale diecast here....

And then there is this guy who scratchbuilt a 12th scale one.

The original promos pretty much all warped themselves into pretzels. I look at mine, which has no busted damage, and it's just too warped to create a model. If indeed you had your sights on creating something unique, the Franklin Mint car would be the way to go. Yea, the original sales price was $135 but just like you posted an auction for a promo parts car, you can find these cheaper than original issue. There are damaged ones that get offered, ones without boxes and some that just go cheap. For reference, I just bought 3 Danbury Mint pickups for $50 each, complete with boxes.

Actually about the only non-stock item with that kit is the grille - cut out the center and replace it with very thin horizontal bars and you should be good to go.

Speaking of which, I just now found this shot in the 1957 Downey (CA) High School yearbook:

Not sure what Kay is holding, but Sandie's got a Futura.
