Ok, guys, here's why the thread was locked.

First of all, I had to delete a bunch of posts that were nothing but foolish PC nonsense and/or childish "schoolyard bully" type comments that actual grown adult men really shouldn't still be relying on to get their point across.

And then I locked the thread because I have better things to do with my time than sit here and babysit a thread to make sure no more idiocy gets posted. I just don't have the time (or desire) to be a forum babysitter 24/7. I do this job voluntarily. On my pwn time. For zero pay. And I'm not complaining... just explaining. Honestly, there's only so much time I'm willing to spend cleaning up messes here. As it is, I probably spend more time moderating here than all the other moderators combined ever did. So I'm putting in my time, and doing my job... but this is not my full-time job.

So for the above reasons, I locked the thread rather than keep it open and constantly go back and keep cleaning it up. I didn't delete it... the pics are still there for anyone to see the model. You just can't make any more dumb comments on the thread.

And BTW... stupid stuff like this is exactly why the SA forum banned the GL altogether. That decision is looking better and better to me. I always thought (or at least wanted to believe) that our members were above that sort of thing, but apparently we have our share of knuckleheads here, just like over at SA.

You know, I wasn't too interested in building a General Lee kit until I read the post for that last one. Now I want to build one out of spite. PC people need to go away. You DO NOT have the right to not be offended by anything.

Yup, Harry, and just to clarify - it's the circumstances leading to you locking the thread I was referring to when I mention "what happened to it".

I don't have a problem with them banning GL if that's what they want to do. I DO have a problem with their hypocrisy, as their sister publication (which is mainly about military modeling) has had at least one feature article on Nazi machinery, complete with (accurate and correct) swastikas, in every single issue for the last 30+ years. They also have no problem with communist red stars, Imperial Japanese hinomarus, etc.

I'm offended and hurt by your reference to "our share of knuckleheads". Does that give me any PC cred? Which group are you referring to? the Group who is Trying to enjoy a good build? or the group who started the food fight in the first place. Please clarify. Meaning Harry. My point is this: Political Correctness is a two edged sword. It cuts both ways. When applied to a situation, it can be flipped around on its user, and THEY are in the cross hairs. PC is a dangerous thing to play with. But its fun to turn the tables on them from time to time... B)

I considered volunteering (I'm a moderator elsewhere), but I feel that there are just too many folks here that need reigning in, to allow me to keep my sanity.

that's like an "almost horse" you know.

I tried to divert attention with a bikini girl, but I guess all this PCness is more powerful. Now that's a shame!

Well, it was provocative. B):wub::lol:

Maybe that's because Political Correctness is nothing short of prior restraint on free speech, and some of us intend to push back.

The military modelers are probably a more mature bunch. I doubt they start throwing hissy fits if they see a German WWII model plane with swastikas on it. But for some reason, it seems like the model car hobby has more than its fair share of immature types.

Better start keeping a closer eye on the race cars, Harry. Some use products made by these guys, and I wouldn't want the perpetually-aggrieved pitchfork and torch gang to get the wrong idea.

The site where I'm a moderator, is predominantly military driven, and yes, the swastika issue is generally ignored, as most of the fellas there realize that it's only a depiction of historical accuracy, not a personal statement of ideology.

It depends on the venue, Harry.

I'm a member of a "loose" model club (no dues, rules, officers...just a group of modelers) and one of our members was born/raised in Germany; his father was a German soldier in WWII. According to Werner, if you enter a model in a German contest today and said model has swastikas etc. you could face incarceration.

>part of it it is the bs you, mike51 and erik88 pulled on there.

yeah dude, I pointed out what a hypocrite you are and that's not BS. and as usual you probably started a big whine about what a victim you are. again true to form but I never went back to check what was happening. I just kind of set the timer and let it go.

I don't give a damm if someone flies the stars and bars on their car, model or not. I think it shows a certain lack of sophistication but that's no reason to not do it, certainly not against the law in amerikaner land. no problem.

one thing though, that chick in the bikini? heres a vote to get rid of that bathing suit.

Here we go again. Shut up jb. I guess the truth hurts. You gotta start something in every thread don't you? Don't you have a model to build? No? That's what I thought.
