Scale-Master Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 MPC cab, engine and chassis I repurposed from a step side kit I built in 1974. I started making it into a copy of my truck over 30 years ago and the project stalled at least 26 years ago. I picked it up a couple months ago. The camper is scratch-built along with lots of other goodies, a lot of kit-bashing as well. WIP Thread: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/103514-’72-chevy-c10-pick-up/
slusher Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Great build and weathering. Impressive scratch built camper Mark. Love this truck...
Kit Basher Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Fantastic job! I followed your WIP and I knew this would turn out awesome. It did!
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 That is probably the best example of this model that I have ever saw built. Excellent!!!!
Scale-Master Posted August 21, 2015 Author Posted August 21, 2015 Beautiful! That is something nobody ever said about the real truck! Thanks guys!
disabled modeler Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Very realistic weathering....love the camper!
wrecker388 Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 That is something nobody ever said about the real truck! Thanks guys!Lol Mark. I guess I have a soft spot for these old rigs in this type of condition because of the one my Grandpa used to have.
disabled modeler Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Riley....I know that feeling well....I have always had a soft spot for 4doors,wagons,campers,vans...we owned a lot of them over the years in the 60s/70s...miss them. Not all great builds need to be shinny.
Atmobil Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Fantastic model, love all your detailing on this one
kruleworld Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 fabulous job. looked at your wip, you've done a lot of work on this.
Scale-Master Posted August 29, 2015 Author Posted August 29, 2015 Thanks guys, I decided to add one more "unique" detail. My near constant companion in the truck was Rocky, a 108 pound Golden Lab. A great dog that knew how to hog a bench seat. I modified a Hood Hounds figure and painted it to match.
Guest Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Very well done. Do you have pics of the real one?
Ta2Don Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Very Cool! I need to find a '72 model so I can attempt to replicate the one in my driveway… Thanx for the inspiration...
Scale-Master Posted September 2, 2015 Author Posted September 2, 2015 If I were to do it again, I'd start with this:
kilrathy10 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 That looks amazing.....Seriously good weathering.....I, too would love to see a pic of the real thing.....This looks so good.....
