For those who have not been to this new location...the toy show and NNL are in the same building, in the same large room, but are separate shows with separate admissions :) Shopping is different than looking :) If you want to go to both, you have to pay 2 admissions. Don't be shocked when you get there :)

Hmmm........that's news to me Howard since I haven't been there since '08. How do they segregate who's going to what? Will be interesting to see.

Bill, Think of one big auditorium. Then in a corner of said space there is a boxed in area of tables with only one way in or out. Obviously you can see some of the models from outside of the designated area but if you want a closer look and a chance to talk to all the model builders present, you have to pay to get into the NNL Area. I was a little surprised last year but got used to it pretty quick. There were three of us there last year. We're known as shoppers as much as builders. But I said I came here for the show and the shopping was secondary (although I did my fair share before the NNL started). The other 2 sat outside the area and waited after they were done shopping and would not pay to view the actual NNL. I was thrilled to meet Tim Boyd and have a chance to talk to other car model builders that I've met throughout the years. I look forward to seeing you there as well as Dave Van and anybody else that I know or from this board etc.

Ok, I can picture that. Guess I'll be paying two fees as I've got quite the list of things I'll be looking for there-----and I'll have a thing or two on the NNL table. ;)

It'll be great getting there again......hard to believe it's been seven years! BTW, I plan on being at the COMA get-together in Dayton the night before. ?

I looked at my photos and the last one for me in Toledo was #30 and the next one is #35 so its been awhile, like Bill stated ''It will be great getting there again''

no he won't be there.

I used to buy every year from him.......I think one of his first full resin kits......the Goldenrod LSR car. Too bad....had a number of items I wanted to see before buying.

So excited, this will be my first year going and everyone I've talked to said this is one of the best show around.

It is a good Show Ian. bring your spending money.

Any one know if Jimmy Flinstone resin be there???

He has not been to this show for awhile. He doe go to the Detroit show in a few weeks after this show.

A couple years ago someone had a few of his bodies for him there but not in the last two years.

There has not been a flashlight sale for at least 5 years :(  There used to be guys with stuff in their motel rooms on the Friday evening and that is down to just a few. I will probably have my motel room open for a couple of hours Friday evening at the Red Roof Inn on Reynolds, just to show some stuff and chat.

Remember, the number of people buying and displaying at the toy show/NNL has dropped from 5000 attendees 20 years to about 500; the vendors have dropped from 500 to about 100. I think this is more of an aging crowd than anything else. There are fewer collections for sale as the crowd dies off and there is no one left to buy the stuff :(

Howard , I am one of those not able to attend . I fell apart in 2003 . The Oct Show was my last . Yes , I did look forward to speaking with you and exchanging ideas . I'm glad you still ara able to attend . Concerning the parking lot and Motel Deals , I sure do miss them . Thanx ..

I was talking about this very thing to someone at our club's model show just last week. The subject was brought up about The Modelhaus and if someone would pick up where they left off. We surmised that no, not likely for the very reasons that Howard mentioned above. Time marches on and it's a fact that we're all getting older. The average builder I think on this board is now in their 50's and 60's.

Someone could buy all the tooling and molds that Don and Carol had, but then much to their chagrin, they find out that now the market had indeed really shrunk compared to when Don and Carol were at their peak, and someone plunking down thousands of dollars for the business, may never recover their investment.

Sad, but that's the reality of the hobby at the moment. :(

Carl, that post is from two years ago......October 10 is on a Tuesday this year. A date I'm VERY familiar with as it's my birthday. :D

The show this year is on Saturday October 7th.........I remember only because the COMA dinner is the night before, as I got an email about it, but I won't be able to go this time around. What time the show is on the 7th, I'm not sure.........someone can fill us in?

Jesse ( and others)- You need to make plans to attend our Motor City NNL on November 12th. We'll have well over 200 tables of vendors, The Motor City NNL, slot car drags, and a few real cars on display. See the thread on the show for more details.
