mangodart Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Hi guys, Back with an old built, it starts its life as a unpainted built kit, than I restore it more than 15 years ago. I decide to give it a refresh. Some new foil, new chrome bumpers from Modelhaus, and a good polish on the paint. Wheels I used were from the AMT 65 Riviera, and tires from "American Satco" ( remember this ??? ). Far from perfect but I still like the way it looks Hope you will like it too
mangodart Posted August 31, 2015 Author Posted August 31, 2015 Some more pics: On the pics the wheels chrome looks a bit tired as we can see the plastic color under it but when looking at the model without APN flash, it's not so evident
Lunajammer Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Really beautiful. You've taken good care of it.
Mike Kucaba Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Nice! I don't recall any Hollywood celebs partial to Mopars but I can picture Frank or any of the Rat pack crusing the blvdwith this. Nice touch and upgrade with the wheels and tires.
StevenGuthmiller Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) Very nice Emmanuel!I started one of these months ago & pretty much abandoned it due to paint issues.I have to get it done one of these days.Personally, I think it's the nicest looking Imperial they ever built!By the way, you can still get reproductions of those Satco tires through Modelhaus.I use a lot of them.Great looking tires. Harry P. Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Beautiful car, beautiful model! My only suggestion: a black wash on that grille to bring out the detail and get rid of that "model car" look.
Al Hoffman Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 All that chrome and the 2-tone roof really speaks of the times.Glad you brought this one back to life and shared it.
promoman Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Nice. Glad I didn't have to foil that car.
charlie8575 Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Nice color and detail. I agree with Harry, the black-wash would make good great.I like those wires on it, not a stock option, but they look very good on the car.Charlie Larkin

mangodart Posted September 1, 2015 Author Posted September 1, 2015 Thanks for the nice comments, I've done a black wash in the grill but the the holes are not very deep so the result was very bad, so I put out all the "wash" and let just a little bit not to have the "toy look". Might try another wash maybe...
unclescott58 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Far from perfect? It looks perfect to me. A very nice looking Imperial.
