cobraman Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 This kit will be next on the bench. I like the rendering on the side panel and so that is the direction I want to take this build.
Roadrunner Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Oh my, I love the Vicky, so I'll be checking to see where you take this. I screwed up the paint on mine, so will be grabbing another.
bisc63 Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Would look neat in satin black, to contrast all the chrome and bright shiny red engine block!
cobraman Posted September 9, 2015 Author Posted September 9, 2015 Are you going with yellow Ray?Is it yellow on the box ? I thought it was a golden color and was going with that. Maybe I'm more colorblind than I thought. : )
Roadrunner Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I knew you were going with a similar style, but was unsure of what color you had chosen. I agree, it looks a golden yellow to me too.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Looking forward to seeing your take on this old favorite.
Jantrix Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 The metallic sheen makes me think its gold being represented on the box and it would get my vote over yellow in any case. Looking forward to seeing this one.
cobraman Posted September 9, 2015 Author Posted September 9, 2015 Thank you boys. Gold it will be. : )
vintagercr Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I will be following this build. Love the Vicky's
cobraman Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 Did a mock up. I see a problem. I have the engine seated right but with the stacks on the carbs the hood will not sit flat. I don't see anything I did wrong so............. I have 2 choices. I can either leave the hood off or I pull the stacks off the carbs. Anyone build this and encounter this problem ?

What about cutting a hole in the hood?
VW93 Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I just looked over the instructions on the drastic plastics instructions page. It appears to me that the hood can only be used without the stacks. These are probably the original instructions where all the assembly steps are in text. I didn't notice anywhere that states not to use the stacks with the hood. If you look at the pics of the completed model it would appear that the hood wouldn't fit properly with the stacks.http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/automotive-cars--pi/ford/1931-1940/amt-32-ford-victori1/?view=roll#1
BIGTRUCK Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 (edited) seems like leave the little velocity stacks off to use hood, From the original issue Edited September 14, 2015 by BIGTRUCK
bobthehobbyguy Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I would suggest leaving the hood off like the black verion on the box art. Great choice on color. who makes the gold?
cobraman Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Looks like I missed that photo/drawing without the stacks being on. I think I will go hoodless. The paint is the Testors gold lacquer.
Tom Geiger Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Me thinks one could cut the hood around the stacks for a different look!
cobraman Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Good idea but I would just cut a finger off or screw the hood up. I may try. Debi !!!! get the band aids ready !!!!
BIGTRUCK Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Looks like I missed that photo/drawing without the stacks being on. I think I will go hoodless. The paint is the Testors gold lacquer. It looks great now, it may not be what you wanted, but it will work out fine
wayne swayze Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Looks good with no hood Ray, but I would get the bandaids out and give the hood a try, just to see. Could look cool.......
