crazyjim Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Here's my version of the Tom Daniel's Pie Wagon. I used HOK Tangelo pearl. I didn't like the rear suspension just hanging down like on the original so I ground out the body to fit the huge slicks.
DumpyDan Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Wow I really like your version, looks just right. Nice work!
cobraman Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I like pie ! I agree, your version with the lowered rear looks much better.
crazyjim Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Thank you very much Ray. My original thought was to put in some giant engine instead of the flathead, but the would have to be cut up so much as to not even be there. So I stayed with the flattie.
Greg Myers Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Nice clean build. But I thought this was what you were talking about
TooOld Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Very cool Jim , I like it lowered like that a lot !
crazyjim Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Thanks Bob. Lowered looks better to me too.
bobthehobbyguy Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Nice work. Where did you get the rear tires?
crazyjim Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Thanks Bob. Rear tires came out of the parts box. I have now idea what kit they were in originally. Sorry.
Tom Geiger Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Nice job! One of my favorite Tom Daniel classics from when I was a kid. I remember when I was 12... one night painting parts, the next night assembly. And I got a credible looking model I was happy with! Of course it wasn't as nice as yours! How did you find the mid-body seam to deal with? As the assembly calls for the two halves to be joined after painting.
Lunajammer Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Lookin' pretty tough there Big J. From trailer queen to street freak. You've made it believable, nice work.
crazyjim Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Thanks Tom & Mike. In order to grind the openings for the rear wheels I had to glue the body together first. The parts were slightly warped and didn't fit very well. Any painting would have been ruined if I had waited to glue them afterwards.
Harry P. Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Never been a fan of the wacky "show rods," but you did a fine job on this. I suggest a black wash on the carbs and front wheels to add a little more realism and take away some of that "modelish" look.
FordRodnKustom Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Outstanding. I like how you lowered it.
crazyjim Posted September 16, 2015 Author Posted September 16, 2015 Thanks Harry & Ron. Black wash isn't bad idea.
disabled modeler Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Nice Jim... I always liked the crazy show rods.
slusher Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Amazing build Jim. I really like your version....
crazyjim Posted September 17, 2015 Author Posted September 17, 2015 Thank you Carl. I really appreciate it.
Jmaracing Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Great looking build Jim. I like it. I also have this kit it's pretty cool.nice job!!
