Luis Ayala Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Hi James !!!Fantastic job so far sir !!!Can't wait to see the color !!!
Tom Geiger Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Very cool. And for those of you who wouldn't try a mod like this, and think that the guys who do, do it perfect every time, read the thread. The big guys don't hit a homerun every time but when they do hit a homerun it's because they've kept on trying! It's not how you screwed it up, it's all about the recovery and perseverance!
James2 Posted January 26, 2016 Author Posted January 26, 2016 (edited) recovery and perseverance! Tom is absolutely correct! We all have that wall we hit every so often. Whether we loose interest, loose parts or a catastrophic accident occurs, there are many reasons to shelf a project. But if your passionate about what you do, you'll find a way to "recover and persevere" . Not just in hobbies but in your day to day life as well. Edited January 26, 2016 by James2
Ferbz Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Very cool. I Agree! Thanks for saying this. I butchered 3 AMT Mercs before I got my first decent chopped top. And let me add that good customizing(like anything else)comes with experience and determination.Keep on it, James!
James2 Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 Well I went ahead and notched the frame. It's still a little rough but at least it stayed in place and the fit is still where I wanted it. I also used a vacu-formed window from a 60 Chevy to make a rear window. It too is a bit rough but should fit nicely with minimal work.
James2 Posted September 19, 2016 Author Posted September 19, 2016 (edited) Ever since June when I broke my Clavicle, I have not had any desire to work on models. But this weekend I went to the Shenango Valley Model Contest and the MoJo started flowing a little bit. My plan is to creep up on it and try to finish something I started. We will see! I made an inside lip for the hood and also made the hinge tonight. Edited September 20, 2016 by James2
72 Charger Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Nice work on that hood hinge James . Have you picked colours yet ?
Impalow Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Nice to see this back on the bench! It was good to see you this past weekend, glad the shoulder is healing up.
espo Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Glade to hear that your on the mend. Nice looking hood hinges. What do you feel up to do next ?
James2 Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 I really need to finish the body work and fit the rear window. I have the chassis close and I could start painting soon. It will be similar to this,
vintagedragcrazy Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Lookin good james was nice to see you on Saturday also!vince
DumpyDan Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 That's good looking body work, can't wait to see more.
misterNNL Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 (edited) IMHO the panel paint would break up the lean and clean flow of the body you have worked so hard to create. The fade paint effect would serve to better enhance the look, but that's only my opinion.Glad you're feeling better and back on the bench as this is way too nice to not finish. Edited September 21, 2016 by misterNNL Had more to say.
GerN Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Really good work - people who have never done a full custom may not appreciate the challenge. You have met that challenge. I agree with misterNML: all that paint design would hide the pure lines and beauty of your work.
misterNNL Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 James,I see you are in Ohio. Are you planning on coming to the NNL Nationals next month? We would love to see this WIP on the primer(Ohio suede)table so everyone can enjoy it.
James2 Posted September 24, 2016 Author Posted September 24, 2016 I hope to be there, I've missed the last two. I will bring it and a couple others if I can. Thanks!
D. Battista Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Thats pretty awesome so far ...good to see you back at it...!!
James2 Posted September 24, 2016 Author Posted September 24, 2016 Dave you should plan now to go with me!I think I see what you guys mean about the fade or maybe one color paint, thanks.
exesivefire Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Glad to see some progress, I hope you do make it to Toledo!
D. Battista Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Dave you should plan now to go with me! You are right.....We'll plan on it....Again awesome work on that Ford...!!!
James2 Posted September 27, 2016 Author Posted September 27, 2016 Really good work - people who have never done a full custom may not appreciate the challenge. You have met that challenge. I agree with misterNML: all that paint design would hide the pure lines and beauty of your work. The amount of custom work on this type of project can be challenging for sure. Nearly if not every part so far has been modified in some way. But I will press on. I will revisit the paint scheme later but for now some more progress in the engine bay. I think the power plant from a Revell 69 Mustang Mach 1 should do nicely.
