Very cool.  And for those of you who wouldn't try a mod like this, and think that the guys who do, do it perfect every time, read the thread.  The big guys don't hit a homerun every time but when they do hit a homerun it's because they've kept on trying!  It's not how you screwed it up, it's all about the recovery and perseverance!

 recovery and perseverance!

Tom is absolutely correct!

We all have that wall we hit every so often. Whether we loose interest, loose parts or a catastrophic accident occurs, there are many reasons to shelf a project. But if your passionate about what you do, you'll find a way to "recover and persevere" .

Not just in hobbies but in your day to day life as well.

I Agree!  Thanks for saying this. I butchered 3 AMT Mercs before I got my first decent chopped top. And let me add that good customizing(like anything else)comes with experience and determination.

Keep on it, James!

Well I went ahead and notched the frame. It's still a little rough but at least it stayed in place and the fit is still where I wanted it.

I also used a vacu-formed window from a 60 Chevy to make a rear window. It too is a bit rough but should fit nicely with minimal work.

Ever since June when I broke my Clavicle, I have not had any desire to work on models. But this weekend I went to the Shenango Valley Model Contest and the MoJo started flowing a little bit. My plan is to creep up on it and try to finish something I started. We will see!

I made an inside lip for the hood and also made the hinge tonight.

I really need to finish the body work and fit the rear window. I have the chassis close and I could start painting soon. It will be similar to this,

IMHO the panel paint would break up the lean and clean flow of the body you have worked so hard to create. The fade paint effect would serve to better enhance the look, but that's only my opinion.Glad you're feeling better and back on the bench as this is way too nice to not finish.

Really good work - people who have never done a full custom may not appreciate the challenge.  You have met that challenge.  I agree with misterNML:  all that paint design would hide the pure lines and beauty of your work.

The amount of custom work on this type of project can be challenging for sure. Nearly if not every part so far has been modified in some way. But I will press on. I will revisit the paint scheme later but for now some more progress in the engine bay. I think the power plant from a Revell 69 Mustang Mach 1 should do nicely.
