Matt Bacon Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 It may be an MX-5 in pretty European dress, but it is a VERY pretty dress. And you get one of FIATs rather excellent MultiAir engines under the bonnet... I'd like a new MX-5. I'd LOVE one of these... bestest, M.
MrObsessive Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 While I do like the new Miata, I REALLY like this one a lot better! To me the Miata is a touch too "feminine" looking, while this one is a bit more masculine appearing with sharper/straighter lines. That's a really sharp color too.........all the pics I've seen so far have been black ones. This one should also be MUCH more reliable than the old 124 Spider. I once owned a '78 back in the early '90's and yup------it broke a timing belt with no warning practically destroying the engine.
Harry P. Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Good looking little car! And I agree with Bill, that's a very sharp color. Of course, being 6'7", I'd never be able to fit into one...
djflyer Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Very good looking sports car. The new gen MX5 has gotten the tail-heavy look now popular from the Z4 and Mercedes SLS. Previous designs had balance and that was unique.I definitely will be watching for this new Spyder!
Craig Irwin Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Too small to be a 124, more 850 sized. I' couldn't get in it.
SSNJim Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I don't drive 124. Are they going to come out with a 125?
Joe Handley Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 For some reason, the front end screams Dart to me, but it does look better than the Miata!
unclescott58 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Looks pretty good from the above photo.
fumi Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 (edited) So Ford ripped off Aston for their front end design and Fiat is ripping off Ford now? Edited November 19, 2015 by fumi
Erik Smith Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Great looking car. Only complaint would be the busy looking turn signal/fog light area of the front end. I like both the Miata and this Fiat.
Howard Cohen Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 So Ford ripped off Aston for their front end design and Fiat is ripping off Ford now? When Ford 'ripped off' Aston, as you say, Ford owned Aston, so all they did is share a design
Howard Cohen Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Being an old Fiat guy, I was looking forward to something even more sporty looking. I hope this car gets into the racing community real soon after it hits the showrooms. I also hope they add a coupe
Spex84 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 http://www.velocetoday.com/images/august07/Fiat-124-5.jpg "So Ford ripped off Aston for their front end design and Fiat is ripping off Ford now?" The new fiat 124's grille opening is nearly the exact same shape as the original 1960s/70s Fiat 124. Not only is it different from Aston's grilles from the 70s to today, it obviously pre-dates the Ford Fusion by several decades. I want to love this new Fiat, but I love the original so much that the new one just looks like a fat, plastic-y bland pretender in comparison I imagine it will be fun to drive, though, and that's all that really counts.
