I am an old hand at posting photos on message boards, but ever since the MCM message board changed configurations, I cannot post. I click on "Insert Other Media", and choose "Insert image from URL"/ Then I paste in the image URL, click "Insert into post and....Nothing. spinning donuts, I've tried it in IE 11, Chrome, and Firefox, all with the same results.

Test 2; used the img tags as mentioned above by ChrisBcritter, pasted the photo URL from right-clicking on the photo in my Fotki album in between the tags. Not a big deal. It works.

I'm on Fotki, I right click "copy picture" go back to post and "paste" right in the thread area.

This is how I've been doing it - works for me every time. (Using a Mac with Firefox, just FYI)

I'm using a PC laptop w/Chrome and occasionally Firefox. I think people are thrown by the "Insert other media" button, rather than just posting the img tags right in the body of the message being typed. Img tags seem to work pretty much universally on forums like this.

I'm not sure the forum's "owners" will like the copy/paste method when they discover that they are hosting and serving gigabytes of pictures. The URL method leaves the pictures where they are and lets your browser fetch them and insert them in the forum page as it renders it. Copy/paste transfers the image files to the Automotive Forums servers...

Not true. When using img tags as shown above, the copy/paste function in between the tags merely copies the offsite host URL for that particular photo. This forum is not uploading the photo, it's still hosted offsite. The gold Mustang I show is not hosted here whatsoever.

I've been unable to post links OR photos by URL ever since I joined about a year ago. I've been uploading the few images that I want to post to MCM instead of just linking from my Photobucket. I'll have to try the IMG tag trick instead.

Whenever I try to link a URL, it kicks my out of the "reply" box and back to the page I was on.

The other thing that doesn't work for me is the "edit post" option. Not only is there no field to type text into, if I hit "enter", it kicks me out of the "edit" box and back to top of the forum page.

It depends what people mean when they say "the copy/paste" method...

If your picture host has ready made BBCode tags, you can copy/paste those. If you hand type the IMG tags, and "paste and match style" a copied URL from the web between them, it works.

But you can also copy and paste a picture directly:

image.tiff

...and if you do that, then the picture is uploaded to the forum servers...

M.
