mangodart Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Hi guys Back with a new built. A 70 Olds 442, started as a Johan kit, with a 69 Olds AMT chassis. Manual trans and console come from the Revell kit, engine is the one from Johan with a Modelhaus air filter. I wanted my Olds full of options so it's got the W27 aluminium axle carrier and cover ( from the 72 Revell Olds ), the D35 sports mirror, the w35 rear spoiler ( which means no stripes on the rear ), and of course the W25 open hood and special air filter ( both from Modelhaus ). I choose the "Super Stock wheels" ( coming from an AMT Chevelle ). Lots of work in the interior as the door panel were very flat so I decide to seperate them and to detail them with some Evergreen and apply some wood decals and foil. Lots of work also on the grill on which I opened the headlight, cut the surrounding of the grill to glue it on the hood... Yu can find the WIP here : Some pics now :
mangodart Posted November 30, 2015 Author Posted November 30, 2015 Some more !!! Some chassis view now :
mangodart Posted November 30, 2015 Author Posted November 30, 2015 And to finish the engine bay, which is a mix with AMT and Johan parts Decals from Fred Cady. Hope you'll like it
crazyjim Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Great stance, details, and pics. I really like the SHINY
440 6BBL Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Very nicely done, the color suits the car very well. I just got my Johan 442 in the mail today. Funny to see you build pop up at the same day. Love those factory stock top of the line muscle cars. There should be a F.A.S.T. class CBP for cars like this
RiskiestLion Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 when you paid to get this car painted did you ask for extra sparkles lol
Mustang Madness Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Very nice build... love the pics/location too.
mangodart Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 Thanks for the nice comments, it was a long time project in my head as I start to collect the things years before. I'm quite happy with the results !!
spencer1984 Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Nice work, and a great idea using the AMT chassis - I'm going to have to remember this!
mangodart Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 Thanks, Yes the AMT 69 Olds chassis is very useful on GM A body, I plan to use one in my 72 GTO sometimes...
CometMan Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Very nice! Always like seeing something higher up the GM ladder than the usual Chevys!!
unclescott58 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Very nice build. What can you tell us about your paint? It's very nice shade of gold.
mangodart Posted December 4, 2015 Author Posted December 4, 2015 AS usual Scott, when I go in Car parts shop, I always look at spray can and when I see some color that suits car very well I bought them As I live in France, I don't know which car is this color from...
bogger44 Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 What a remarkably beautiful build, Emmanuel! Very well done. I've got plans to do the same kitbashing someday as well, I just need to order the decals yet.
