Sledsel Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 Now That's a score!! Wish we had one locally. Want anything? I can look and send. Bought the 70 roadrunner about 2 weeks ago $9.99 reg price
bismarck Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I appreciate the offer, but I'm about 1 more kit away from getting skinned alive by the wife. Thanks much for the offer though.
Sledsel Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 LOL..... When I was "attached" I'd buy off ebay and have sent to my office at work. When I left the job I had about 50 kits stacked up there I smuggled to the garage. Did not think it out to well, should of taken one or two at a time.
1930fordpickup Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I appreciate the offer, but I'm about 1 more kit away from getting skinned alive by the wife. Thanks much for the offer though. Just tell her that Models are like shoes, they come in pairs.
bismarck Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I tried that once. I told her 1 was a builder, the other a spare. It got to the point she was selling the "spare" kits on ebay!!! She does pretty good with my hobby, but I do let it get out of hand sometimes.
Sledsel Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 Ohhhh..... she's is my best supplier! LMAO
Deathgoblin Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I'm gonna have to hit DDM. There's at least one around here.
Sledsel Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 70 road runner you say???Sorry, all gone from the 3 store I checked. I wanted another for the wheels.
Sledsel Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 I'm gonna have to hit DDM. There's at least one around here. I try to buy as much as possible from them so they keep selling them. Their prices are great. The Glidden 'Bird is $16.99 without the sale. They carried AMT long ago, thinking about sending them a letter asking if they may consider it again.
Dave Van Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 There was a store right up the street from my brothers house in Columbus.......LOVED the store......reminded me of old school drug stores I knew growing up. But it closed early this year. I did get some great model buys there. Too bad they are gone from the area.
JTalmage Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Hmm... there's one up the next exit from my work.... maybe I'll have to check them out.

Erik548 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I appreciate the offer, but I'm about 1 more kit away from getting skinned alive by the wife. Thanks much for the offer though. sounds like someone needs a new wife....
bismarck Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Nah.. I tried that one before too. Happy wife, Happy life. Only cost me a car and house to learn that one. Collecting ex-wives is more expensive that plastic. I think I found a good one this time. I gripe and Grinch about stuff sometimes, but she's WWWAAAYYYY better than my ex by far. tbill Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Sorry, all gone from the 3 store I checked. I wanted another for the wheels. no worries, was worth a shot
Ramfins59 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I'm not trying, or intending, to "start a war" here, but I can't understand why a wife would object to her husband spending money on his hobby as long as all the bills are paid and there is food on the table. My wife of almost 47 years has never once complained or spoken out against me spending money on models or supplies for any hobby I've ever had. I pay all the household bills and am the saver...... She pays the insurance and medical premiums and buys the food and spends whatever is left over. Maybe I'm just one of the "lucky ones", but I've never, ever had to "hide" anything I've bought, or "sneak it into the house"............. and that saying "Happy wife = Happy life" just really irks me. Marriage is a team effort.
Renegade Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 My girlfriend has a very simple rule. Her money is her money and my money is her money.
Mike Chernecki Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 A quick tip if you carry a laptop to work. A laptop bag will conceal one Japanese flat type box along with your laptop. Or several loosely packed supplies.

Marriage is a team effort. I'm guessing you have never been divorced? The Happy wife+ Happy Life simply is a mindset that keeps things in perspective. Trust me, if she goofs up, im the first one on her case about it. If both people have the same mindset to make each other happy, then that phrase makes perfect sense. I have never had to sneak kits into the house either, but if left to my own to say when is enough plastic, i'd be living in a cardboard box with a bunch of unbuilt kits. You have been married for 47 years. You have found what "works" for your marriage, give and take, right? Well "happy wife=happy life" works for me. She's that little voice that simply asks if i really NEED another kit when i have so many. She forces me to stop and think about the purchase before i buy it. I DO pay all the bills, Mortgage, TWO car payments, not to mention all the medicals bills since her car wreck. She just keeps it real for me. No war to start, man. Your entitled to your opinion. I only hope my wife and i have 47 years together. We have 12 so far. Thanks for the kit offer Andy!! Much appreciated . Edited December 3, 2015 by bismarck
tbill Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 i am one of the lucky ones, this i know. not only does she not say anything about my plastic gathering, she didn't blink an eye when i told her i bought the 55 fairlane
