Belugawrx Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 (edited) Last one (I think) for '15 This was the AMT (should use TNT) that I cut 1/2 an inch out of to make it look less like a new york cab and more like a hot rod Begin Pictures Alcladded the bumpers,...just didn't use them,. White steelies with chrome beauty trim, in Michelins with upholstery tack moonsok? Made her a new shifter and raised the interior floor up about an eighth of an inch into the tub.. Oh and threw one of these in it Forgot I had this one lingering so ...ya another one done in '15.... This started out as an experiment to see if I could cut something up, and get it back to a reasonably smooth, paint and polishable surface,... I think it came out all right Thnx for looking in Q. C. + C's welcome Cheers oh cr@P, I forgot the mirrors, I'll be back,..they gotta be around here somewhere Edited December 11, 2015 by Belugawrx Title
Snake45 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Very interesting and very nice! Looks like you've created the 1955 equivalent of the '69-'72 Chevelle. Very clean work on the rear wheel openings, too. Overall well done!

Greg Myers Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) Where did the "1/2 inch" come out of ? What's the story on the rear wheel openings? "threw one of these in it" , tell us more about it. Lots of cool stuff going on here Bruce. Edited December 10, 2015 by Greg Myers
Greg Myers Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Just went to the "Build site", answered a bunch of questions. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/87762-55-chev-belaire-sedancoupe/ But I still don't really understand the "1/2 inch cut, the whys and wherefores ?
Renegade Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Like the look. Makes me want to head to the drive-in for a burger and cherry coke.
Skip Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Looks great, similar to one Hot Rod magazine did back in the '80's or so.

DRIPTROIT 71 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 When I first saw the lines drawn on the body of this build to mark where the cuts were going to be, my first thought was that I wasn't going to like this one. Generally, I am not a fan of channeling or chopping or cutting, but that is just a personal preference of mine. As the build progressed I observed some very nice body work, and I've got to say that I REALLY LIKE the finished product. The choice to delete the grill, bumpers, door handles, etc., just added to the awesome appearance of this car. Very nice build! Very nice craftsmanship! I like this one!!
JTRACING Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 (edited) Very cool! Love those baby moons! Engine looks sweet alsodid you add working headlights Or is that a camera illusion lol? Edited December 13, 2015 by JTRACING
Belugawrx Posted December 13, 2015 Author Posted December 13, 2015 Thnx All...Greg, Thnx for posting the wip,..I need to remember to do that!Dan, Pat, Stephen, Mark, Thank you !Brian, Yes, the kit body just looked, to my eye, too long, like a 4 door,..Hence the sectioning (no chop),..I sectioned the roof ahead, and the body side behind the hip, in hopes of saving the hip and door line.James, No working headlights yet,...the body is not glued in yet tho,..LOLHappy modellingCheers
