chunkypeanutbutter Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Well, I'll have to jump in on this with something.
Pat Minarick Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) This is what I'm starting with, a casting of a body I did. It will be red with a white interior, ralley stripe, and vyinal top.I'll be using the engine from the Revell Willy's kit and a lot of scratch building Edited December 31, 2015 by Pat Minarick
Jantrix Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I think I have my build. After finishing this '57, I bought the Monogram 1/24 '56 Chevy to go with it. It will be built in a similar fashion with a brighter two tone, and dropped even lower.

Jantrix Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Very cool 57, what are the front turn signals. Thanks. I picked up a kit with some of the caddy bullet tail lights except they were clear. I sprayed them clear amber. And scratch what I said before about the '56 Chevy, I'm coming up with some new ideas.

Lunajammer Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I came across this post from a 2008 discussion about what defines a rat rod and the origins of the term. I think it's worth a look, especially Jairus' contribution. Click here to link to the thread. (Photo cred to Dr. Cranky).
Jantrix Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Okay I'm in. Here's my official entry. This seems to be a perfect candidate. It comes with lowered suspension for use with the modern wheels/tires but it can be pretty easily modified to use with some wide whites. I'm planning an engine change and some partial dechroming. A flat two tone will be the order of the day. I'll start soon.
gardnerpag44 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Have always had a crazy idea for a Rat Rod so I'm going join in on this Here's what I'm starting with

Pat Minarick Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 Very cool guys ,this is the stuff I was hoping to see.
jeffbrad Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Gonna do a channeled 29 Vegas Rat Rod style. Have a Moebius Hudson engine I'm going to use.
exesivefire Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 I'm in, I have a couple builds planned... Let me finalize my thoughts.
otherunicorn Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Today's effort was dragging this lot out of the shed. I don't even know if the kit is complete.
Stuntman Mike Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Last week I´ve ordered a ´25 Model T 3in1 double kit primarily I´d like to turn the stock version into a single seat vintage style custom racer. So there will be plenty parts for me to turn the second kit into a rat rod. Count me in with a chopped ´25 Tall T. And if this CBP is renamed into "Race´n`Rad Rods", I´m in with the other one, too.

Cool , A vintage racer would fine with me.
64SS350 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 I think I may jump in also, haven't built a Rat Rod Yet, but I seen an idea I like somewhere. Mine will be based on a semi .

That's probably the kit I used to make the T rat on the previous page. It was done using leftovers after I built my T bucket.
Stuntman Mike Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 That's probably the kit I used to make the T rat on the previous page. It was done using leftovers after I built my T bucket. It´s this kit There´s a different version available with a stock Tall T, but I wanted this because of the chopped body and because I just need the wheels, chassis, engine and radiator from the stock version for the vintage racer. The body will be built from scratch with the driver´s seat above the differential. Inspiration to build myself a neat vintage racer came from HERE
