Well the rear suspension mods are going well. Just a panhard bar to fab. The chassis mods for the coil over are kinda chunky, but everything fits and I'll be able to c-notch the chassis now so the lowered ride height looks mechanically possible.

Made small progress on the Battlewagon interior:

Another mock up - really digging the stance - probably some of my favorite pics to date:

Steve that looks awesome.

Question

I'm really leaning toward a gloss paint job on this '37. It will have the stance, the parts, the attitude of a rat rod, but will be gloss painted with no patina what-so-ever.

Does this take it out of the 'rat rod" genre? Or is rat rodding more about attitude? Opinions please.

On the opening post: There are no rules to building a Rat Rod (Rusty ,Shinny ,or Bare Metal) anything goes.

I don't normally quote Wikipedia, but their definition of Rat Rod is pretty close to how I feel. Too much to quote, but go check it out.

Despite differences of opinion, a Rat Rod doesn't need to be rusty or have flat/matte paint.

Okay then. Here's where she sits. You can see how she's got the rat rod attitude. Chassis and wheels will be silver. Engine block and body will Testors One Coat Mystic Emerald. Interior ................. not sure yet. Wide whites on big & littles and steelies.

I got this for Christmas and went to work on it almost immediately.  This was inspired by builds I did when I was a kid, where I would get a kit for Christmas/Birthday...  one I wouldn't have picked out myself.  After an afternoon of studying the parts and pondering the limited resources I had as a kid... I'd go out to my stepdad's work shed and find some old paint. Maybe not the best color choices and usually only 2 or 3 non matching colors but I didn't care about the out come as much as the building process. I built alot of kits this way.

I only used 4 colors for the build. I chopped the top stretched the frame added a 409 and ditched the fenders. I removed the centers from a pair of donk wheels and replaced them with the 23T wooden wheels.  It's a pro-touring touring...  kinda...

Anyway, thanks for allowing me to post it here... It was a fun ratrod/ pre-war era build for me, I don't usually build this kind of stuff.

Cool. I like it! It has been extremely rare for me to ever build a kit as intended too.

Thanks Bob.

Steve, that looks terrific.

More work. It's always nice when you've done so many suspension mods and when your done all four tires sit flat.
