It was originally purchased in 1979,and of course being a young and budding model builder at the time I built the kit straight out of the box. Well most of the pieces wound up on the truck, and a few didn't make the cut. I used very little paint on the build, mostly on the original engine and a little on the interior parts. It turned out ruff, but it wasn't a complete glue bomb. As I got better building models this truck was slowly turning into somewhat of an eye sore, so I eventually relegated it to a box in the top of my closet and it was forgotten. Fast forward to about 1990 I was going through my old room and happened upon that box. I took the box home which still contained the old truck along with other built models and pieces. I decided to try and salvage it, I disassembled the truck and this time having better skill, painted a few more parts. The old kit turned better and I displayed it proudly. But once again as my skills grew, well you know the story. So once again around 2005 I decided to restore it again. I tore the truck back apart, stripped the paint off, sent the original chrome parts out to be re-plated, removed the original Detroit 8V-71 and replaced it with a Cummins. I wanted to keep some of the trucks personality so I kept the old original "too skinny" tires. I raided my parts box for some of the other missing pieces. The trailer was added a few years ago. Anyway, I hope you like it.2015-12-14_12.47.07.thumb.jpg.097bf7f560

Hi James, what a good looking rig from a long time ago!

Man, that looks good even today, very good work there.  I see you sanded the shiny tires too, they still look good.  Respect.

Which kit is this one?

Great, rig, James! It cries "70's" overall - it just looks period perfect!

I love those 60's and 70's US trucks that showed up in several trucker movies almost 40 years ago. I have the same one waiting for a restauration.

The foil on the underside of the cab used for some heat insulation is a nice idea!

Really a nice save , of a classic truck from back in the day. I love it . I have one of these awaiting its first rebuild. It was built in the early 70's. I hope I can make it look

halfway as good as your does.

Wow, this truck looks to be right out of Owner Operator magazine.  The paint work is stunning , and I really like your idea of the under cab insulation.  (I borrowed your idea on an IH coe I rebuilt)

This model should be on a poster or calendar picture !

Thanks a lot guys on the kind words. As I've said before, this site helps inspire me to build a little more, and luckily I have quite of few left to show while I work on a few projects that have been growing dusty on my work bench. This site has also been a great place to look at what others are working on, and give me idea's on future projects. Again, thanks everyone.
