vintagercr Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I was just wondering how everyone picks which model they will start next. I have a friend who draws from a hat and what ever kit name he pulls that is the one he works on and doesn't stray.
DeeCee Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Sometimes i sit for a couple of nights before i make up my mind, it is usually what INSPIRES me. Sometimes i see something else whereand that style gets me going, but it is difficult though.
cobraman Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Whatever I am in the mood for at the time.
bismarck Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Seeing a TV show or old movie with a nice old hot rod or muscle car in it. When I hit a slump, I just pop in a good car movie , and I'm digging in the stash in no time.
disabled modeler Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 With me restoring the oldies of my dads its a matter of which one I have enough parts to....other than those its what ever I have been wanting to build or waiting for years for it to come back out so I could get one...LOL..
JTalmage Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I usually try to go off of what the theme is for each month for the club I'm in. But not always. Other times it's something that I've owned so long I'm sick of not seeing it built. Or something that grabs my interest and doesnt let go. Other times it's something I see on TV or a movie... or heck, even just driving down the road!So all in all... its pretty random for me.
gtx6970 Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 From an idea I see . sometimes here, sometimes elsewhere.Other times just looking thru the stash a light bulb goes off. But to be honest I've hardly touched a model in months,,,,that needs to change
Mustang Madness Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 One usually calls my name louder than the others....
JTalmage Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Oh, I also sometimes reorganize my stash. That helps sometimes too. Brings something from the back to the front and gives me renewed interest or a new spark of idea.
drsnapper55 Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 There has to be a fun factor for me. I have more kits than I know I can ever build, so collectible doesn't matter that much. I like to save pictures and notes for future builds - not too mention visit this forum frequently.
Deathgoblin Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Whatever trips my trigger. I've got my next few planned out: working on a 2010 Dodge Challenger now, next is a BMW 635csi, and then an Austin Healey 100-6 gluebomb to restore.
wayne swayze Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I tried to convince myself to finish 2 or 3 builds that are sitting gathering dust in the new year. A good plan....probably won't happen. I found myself messing with something out of the blue yesterday...what a surprise! Maybe I should take "time management" courses!
Roadrunner Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Interesting question. I tend to be rather OCD, so I grab whatever I desire at that particular time.
Eshaver Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Since I Primarily devote my model activity to dioramas now ,models are picked to work with whatever building I'm doing.Currently, I'm doing a 1920 Marland oil store that was built in Manchester Virginia .I'll be showing it as a 1923 era project....................
10thumbs Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 This topic poses an interesting question. I can relate to most of the guys who've replied.1st off, I've re-entered car modeling just recently and I thought I had a road map. While finishing up one project, the next one was already looming in the background. That's changed. It was like a slap in the face. Now I know what the next one will be.
Foxer Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I have no idea ... it all seems to be in my head
IceMan Collections Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 To say I pick ONE model to work on next seems a bit crazy. I have at least 3 projects I'm continuously working on. a few more that I"m also "working" on. If I get bored, it goes back into the box and on the shelf. But like many have already posted, I might see something in a magazine or something on the road and I wonder if I could build something similar or it gives me ideas for later.
Helix Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I like to research cars for my next project and for me it boils down to a picture of an actual car that will help me decide which one to start on
Nova-ss Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I guess its some creative part that chooses which one is next....Chris
Kit Basher Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 How do I choose? A blindfold .........and darts!
lysleder Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Usually I don't get to choose. It feels more like the kit chooses me
Lizard Racing Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Whatever gives me the fever. I have eight kits on the shelf, then Hot Rod had a cover story on 1963 Mystery Motor Corvettes, so I bought (yet) another '63 'Vette and moved it to the head of the line.
Tom Geiger Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 The voices in my head tell me what to build next!
berr13 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 The Barrett Jackson auctions sometimes inspire me to find something.
