Fanof69 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I picked up a couple of these in the baked goods section at the local Walmart. First properly dispose of tasty contents. I like to dispose of mine with a glass of milk. Then clean and remove stickers. Not fancy but it keeps the dust off and lets me spend more of my money on models, and of course doughnuts too!!
Lizard Racing Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 At last!!!A legitimate excuse to buy chocolate donuts!
Harry Joy Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I am in the grocery business. If you ask the manager or supervisor, most any chain grocery will sell you some plastic clamshells if you ask nicely. For the 15 years I've been doing this, I've sold them for anywhere from ten cents to a quarter. I've also given them to customers on occasion. The "dust cover" that I use to protect painted projects is a round dome cake cover.
StevenGuthmiller Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Mmmm, Donuts! You had to know it was coming! Steve
ChrisBcritter Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 (edited) Not a bad idea (except for the calories). One suggestion: Turn it upside down and use the larger part for the lid. You could even fill the recess in the bottom (formerly the lid) with plaster to make a base. Edited December 21, 2015 by ChrisBcritter
Crazy Ed Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 And they were FREE! Well you were gonna buy 30 box's of those Doughnuts anyway wern't you. I mean your doing it for the Planet Right??????
Deathgoblin Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Just what I needed - another excuse to buy donuts.
Fat Brian Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 (edited) Are you trying to kill me? I already weigh 400 pounds, too much of this and they'll have to roll me in the Walmart. Edited December 21, 2015 by Fat Brian
High octane Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Whatever works, as model car builders have a lot of "tricks" up their sleeves.
Roadrunner Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Not a bad idea at all. I can easily see myself tipping the scales at 400 pounds doing it this way.
charlie8575 Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 I use these to store WIPs from time-to-time. My major concern is because they're rather thin, how they'd hold up over time, especially if stacked. Charlie Larkin
uncle potts Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Wait till I tell the Mrs that I need to start buying donuts at the Wal-mart, for my models, she already hates my hobby, this won't help.

But I do know you don't want to use them for your purple pond. They don't hold up to that very long. Found that out the messy way.

Sledsel Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 I have used those for windows also.Off to get some donuts.
disabled modeler Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 very cool idea keeps them clean and I have used them for windows on builds before too.
Hawk312 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 They also sell celery in those containers. Now where`s that fire suit....

Deathgoblin Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 If they come in toasted coconut, I'm in trouble.
