Petetrucker07 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Not letting any moss grow are ya. That steer axle looks great.
Old Buckaroo Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 Thanks guys, that axle about made me crazy. My handling of small parts is pretty poor anymore. I worked on the cab some more today, filled the old hatches and scribed new ones. First I made a styrene pattern and attached it with double sided scotch tape. Next I took the pinvise with a tip made from a "T-Pin" and scribed around it several times being very careful on the corners and around the filled areas. After I had a good scribe I followed up with the scribbing tool and widened the gap. A touch of liquid cement takes away the fuzz and cleans the groove.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Wow!! This thing is really taking shape fast!!
gatorincebu Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Sean, Looking good thus far ! I know what you mean about doing the heavy work fast. Then bogging down on the fine tuning. It is tedious but I do kinda enjoy it !? lol Be Well Gator
Olskoolrodder Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 I dont' think I've ever seen one of these, awesome choice Off to a great start!
Old Buckaroo Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 Thanks guys for commenting More work on the cab today. I needed to get the cab toe-steps made. I brought in the Chopper again, these things are great for cutting multiple pieces the same size. all five pieces cut Assembled and in place Thanks for looking in - until next time
Petetrucker07 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Nice work on the steps. I may have to invest in one of those Choppers.
gino Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 nice work ! it's really lookin like a DR ! awesome !
guitarsam326 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Lookin good Sean! I agree with ya on the detail work, the biggest thing for me is actually making a decision!
Tesla Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 The steps came out nice! I have a Chopper also...a great tool to have.
jacobus Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 nice work so farand sean , thank,s for the brochurespecial for the interiorjacobus
Old Buckaroo Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 Clayton - This is my second one. My other one had a masonite pad and I wore it out from cutting strips of wood for my model rr . Gino - I hope I can pull it of somewhat close. Sam - I make too many decisions and all are the hardest way to do things I believe . Rich - Thank you Dennis, I was hoping you had one after seeing some of your projects. Jacobus - I was hoping that would help you out. Today's progress, got the cab to where I could give it a shot of primer and find all the hidden gremlins. Ok, you sharp eyed Cummin's guys - I did a couple of modifications to my engine. One real obvious the other maybe not. Thanks for looking in and commenting
Superpeterbilt Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Is It the oil filters?Thats the only difference I can see, but Im pretty sleepy.Nice work on that cab. The step buckets look great. I kinda want to build a daycab now.
purepmd Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Great start! Really like the way this is going. Very nice work.P.S. Could ya slow down a bit, feeling a little inadequate with my progress.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 (edited) Wow!!! First of all, I can hardly believe the progress on this cab! If I would have tried to covert a K100 into a Diamond Reo Royal it would end up looking like a cabover Pacer. You have really captured this one! I like the added oil filters to the Cummins as well. It is a nice touch. It also looks to me like you corrected the heads or at least the valve covers as well, an even better touch! Edited January 6, 2016 by DRIPTROIT 71
Old Buckaroo Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 Brian you caught the changes . A cabover Pacer - now that would be cool !After taking a pic with primer I noticed the droopy seam / gutter above the windshield. I fixed that issue.
gino Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 wow that cab came out really nice ! it looks like it came that way.the cummins looks great also, I like the details you did on it.
cowboy rich Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I'm liking it Sean I caught the oil filters but missed the valve covers, looking to deep(can't see the forest for the trees). That is looking really good if I hadn't watched it happen I wouldn't believe it.?Rich
gatorincebu Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Sean, There may not be anyone chasing you ? But you are definitely pulling away from the pack !The body work on the cab looks real good. Your tip about using the liquid solvent on the scribbed lines Is good . I have also used it to help prevent ghosting of removed body lines etc. Be Well Gator
