Barnes and Noble in Wyomissing, PA has seven issues of #200 on the rack at this very second. Soon to be six though ^_^

Derth, The hobby section is top shelf there? The hobby section shelf in Ventura, CA is on the bottom.

heh, I've won a few dollars with the lottery!!!

I should have been more clear and asked for the info my brain wanted, instead of typing so fast.

What I really needed, was to find out what/where Barnes & Noble stores have the magazine, that didn't have the mag before.

We had a huge increase in the number of mags requested by the distributor, and I was curious to see what areas of the country that they got into, from the guys walking the ground, not the reports.

The reports go by store numbers, and that's just too much work for me.... :-)

Thanks everyone!

Yes, I'm still late, still behind, and still getting caught up...

I can't remember for sure if the Ventura, CA B&N carried it before or not but I spotted this issue in middle January.

I hate to get all mushy, but when I see these pics of the mag in newsstands, I do get all mushy...

Thanks, Guys!

Bob, thanks!

Didn't know that about Dillions/Kroger grocery stores. That's real interesting.

I appreciate the leg work.

Barnes & Noble in Fullerton CA has never carried Model Car Magazine and now they have apparently stopped selling Scale Auto.

I stopped reading SAE years ago . The critics who do the kit revues are too busy running down a DECADES old re issue to bother with how it makes the overall story look . I can't put credibility into a HACK job ................................

I visited my local B&N yesterday, and they had no car modeling magazines at all. Plenty of Airfix and airplane modeling mags, but not cars.

No Model Cars Magazine at the B&N in Oceanside, Ca,, Rancho Bernardo, Ca ,,   Escondido, CA.

Asked at the customer service desk = do not carry the magazine.

I recently sent in a subscription payment. I hope my first issue is Dec 2015, #200 (the current issue).

I was at the B&N in South Charlotte today and picked up issue # 200, they had 2 on the shelf. Nice to see it available in a book store as the only hobby shop left around is a 30 minute one way drive.

I'll probably subscribe again now that I have a job.

Nice issue by the way, loved the article on the Plymouths and the Ford F350.

Picked up #201 at B&N......freakin fantastic!

Checked out the other model mag and there is no comparison.

The other mag costs more, less pages and does not offer all pages all color all the time!

Enjoyed the Chuck Most commercial break and the 29 Ford sketchpad centerfold.

Thanks guys for a kickin mag!

Would I have to talk to my local Hobby Shop to see if they would carry MCM ? and ask them to request It.

The Barnes & Noble order went from 500 copies under Golden Bell Press to now over 1850 copies.

Huge jump!

I can't get to the data yet to see what stores have it, still working on that

Yes, asking your local hobby shop would help.
let me know what shop it is, see if I have contact info also.

Send me an email: gregg@modelcarsmag.com

Thanks

Are you sure you're looking at the magazines correctly? The most recent issue of MCM I have, (#195 from last year), has around six or so pages with B&W pics in it, I can't recall the last issue of SA that had a B&W pic in it, & I have every issue from #50-current of that mag. I know it's been at least 15 years or so since SA had a B&W pic in it, it's certainly been all color since changing from Scale Auto Enthusiast to Scale Auto in 2002/2003, & I do think it was for several years before then as well, if memory serves it's been 100% from the first graphic update their publisher did around 1997 or so, except for an article on doing B&W photography from about that same time period, which of course used B&W pics for it. I can go through my binders of SA & pinpoint exactly when if I so choose. For the record, I have no problem if magazine pics are B&W or color, as long as they are reproduced crisply & sharply, so this isn't a knock on MCM, just setting the record straight..

Also both mags seem to run roughly 60 pages per issue, give or take a couple of pages, so I'm not sure what you're looking at or seeing there. MCM is printed on a thicker paper stock than SA is, so it can seem to have more pages, but that's not necessarily so, Nor is the thicker stock an improvement either. Because the cover is sometimes of thinner stock, I've had several covers of MCM rip on me, Also the thicker stock can make it harder to use the mag as reference at the workbench, because it tends to not lie as flat when open as a copy of SA does.

None of this is a commentary on the content of MCM or SA, merely pointing out that someone either wasn't looking at the same magazines, or was merely blowing smoke for whatever reason. I find the content of both magazines equally average at best, a far cry from what each one used to be. If MCM were published on a steadier schedule & were available in more outlets, I'd still be buying every issue like i used to do when I lived in a bigger city. Both SA & FSM are available in the magazine section at the local grocery store in the small town where I live, while MCM, (when it's available), can only be found in a larger city at one of the two Hobbytown USA stores & a local hobby shop I sometimes go to, )I've never seen it at either of the two B&Ns in the city), all of which are 45 minutes or more away. That's what influences my buying decisions here.

Well, you could just subscribe. It would be cheaper in the long run and they will bring it to your door or leave it at your local Post Office.

As a fairly new modeler, I find the articles interesting and helpful. I can see where, if you have been in the hobby for awhile, it seems like all they show you is nice photos of models and tips you already know about. It falls into the old saying "you can't please all the people, all of the time"

As an old hand in the hobby, I've been involved 28 years as an adult,  I love to get both magazines.  We know most of the writers in person so it's fun to read their work. Anyone else hear their voices as you read?

Congrats Gregg I know that's a big help in your mission to make a go of it without Golden Bell!

I picked up issue 201 @ B&N in Pearland Texas Sunday.  Only had two copies there. Didn't see them there a week ago when I looked.

Thanks for the updates.

Still trying to get into their data system, to see what stores get how many copies.

Too complicated for my last brain cell.

Have been seeing it more frequently at the B & N  near the Springfield Town Center Mall in N. Virginia . Bought #'s 199,200, 201 there. With the loss of hobby shops it's good to have some place it can be found.
