Plastheniker Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) Hi, My old instruction sheet says that Tamiya released this 1/20 kit almost 20 years ago. Nevertheless I remember building both models quite well. When I buy a Tamiya kit I expect a top class kit, all the more as 20 years ago the German Tamiya sole importer kept prices very high. I can't say that I was completely disappointed. As usual fit, realism and instruction sheet were excellent. I was, however, disappointed by some simplifications that I didn't expect in a Tamiya kit e. g. the common pedal support was rather crude, the shift linkage (clearly visible on the real car) was missing completely, no ignition cables and brake hoses, the box-like mesh on top of the intake trumpets was replicated by a box of clear plastic - really anachronistic when PE parts had already become a feature of many kits. Really annoying were the poor surfaces of most chromed parts. Uneven and with conspicious seams I either replaced them by real metal or sanded and foiled them. All in all the kit required more effort than expected, but standing side by side with my 8 pairs of superdetailed 1/20 Casadio/Revival GP models this pair makes an interesting completion. bbowser Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Outstanding as always. I really look forward to your replicas. With the right backround it would be tough to tell it wasn't 1:1.

Shardik Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I have a profound appreciation for the F1 cars of this era. The sleek, functional simplicity made these cars things of beauty. You have, very capably, captured the true essence of this automotive sculpture. Bravo!
