I'm fine with what I see.having it in your hands to look, campare and measure for those that feel it necessary. but to go with what pictures show doesn't show revell the respect and effort they put in.I'm excited for it and will wait to see with my own eyes.if when I see it,some doesn't make happy...I change to suit my wants and needs...so thank you Revell!!!...when its finished how about a 73 74 nova......Chris

From what I can see in the package F/F diecast Charger w/o breaking the plastic/cardboard seal, the seat is a drag bucket shape seat. The back roll bar appears to be from the kit but has a horizontal bar just below the door seal instead of a diagonal bar starting from the ds top extending to the ps bottom. The floor pan is not like 68/69 or Daytona version but a stripped floor pan. Dash, steering wheel and offset shifter same as in mentioned kits.

My sealed collectibile was more accessible than my shelf display. I packed it up when rotating my display case got full and I'm not sure which box it's packed in. Wife has gone to bed and I'm sure she doesn't want to see the 1/25 scale of the Mecum auction parade around the bed!

IIRC the main chassis was the same, the frt wheels where held in by steel pins thru the front spindles and the rear had a metal axle thru the rear end. The grill has open headlights.

New tooling could mean seat, rear roll bar floor pan, grill and bumper assembly, possibly rear tail panel and lights, scoop and blower setup on top of the hemi and body( side marker lights in different positions than 68/69 and different front fender/hood for the wrap around bumper). Later factory seats with new interior side panels with a separate R/T door scoop can be added for a stock version.

For a nascar version, a great platform to start. Just hope they leave the hood solid with the option to make the cutout for the blower.

From the photos above, stock grill with closed headlight cover (Thank you  lord!), new frt seats, no rear shocks, wipers, door handles, side mirrors and stock exhaust system ( unless on the parts tree) and the front clip appears different from the 68/69 kit, and the side marker light appear to be in their respective places.  I don't think it going to take much to convert to a stock version with a little donation from the 68/69 kits

Hopefully they will revise the grille before release..seems to be missing the texture..or the pic is low-res and I can't see it.

I can see the texture, though it appears to be mostly buried under a cost of paint or two, perhaps intentionally.

AHH!!!, the DEATHPROOF Charger

well it's not a 70 in the movie, but this kit looks like it.

Because they're both black?

I don't know if we could handle the mass hanky wringing!

It's not stock? OH NO!

Revell will be doing a stock one but not the first issue !

This really surprises me. Lately both Round 2 and Revell have shown good understanding of their target market (the 40+ crowd) with all the old hot rods with vintage equipment, chopped tops and period wheels and tires. I've always seen the F&F model cars as the last hurrah at targeting a younger crowd. It wasn't successful then and it won't be now. With that info, it's a surprise that they aren't coming out of the gate with a stock version with drag options (like the 67, and 68 Chargers) that would allow you to build Dom's Charger if you wanted. I suppose it's more likely they just want folks to buy more kits. And believe that we will.

I would argue the F&F franchise/brand is quite successful, and that tie-ins, such as model kits based on the movie cars, follow suit. I highly doubt Revell would pursue the licensing for the F&F brand a second time if they were money losers the first time around.

While the 40+ age crowd might form the majority of Revell's customers, they aren't going to ignore the rest of their customer base, either. The F&F series is absolutely aimed at the 8-35 year old demographic, and vehicles like the Honda Civic EK series are considered classics to younger generations, so it makes sense to reissue them with F&F branding and with F&F 8 due in theaters next year. It's good timing and smart business.

Both versions of this kit will sell very well IMHO. I'll buy one of each without hesitation, even if I only buy the F&F version for the wheels.

I know I will buy the F&F car just for the movie tie in since I like collecting show biz related kits. And, then I will buy the stock(?) version to build some drag cars.

Revell got me since I got both ways! Er, wait.....no, but yes, I do.... never mind!

I'd just like to point out that the #1 best selling kit of last year was: (And the General Lee was #2, but there were some extenuating circumstances with that one)

RevelSHboxcopy__81463.1459546217.1280.12

And the #1 car kit by a long shot so far this year (just preorders, too) is this:

REV4317__77815.1459545989.1280.1280.png?

All these kits just offer one building option. Revell has years of sales data, they know their customer base pretty well. The first thing I learned when I got into this business 15 years ago was to quit thinking like an enthusiast.hobbyist and start thinking like a beginner.  2 in 1 and 3 in 1 kits can often intimidate the beginner or average builder and as such are not really marketed to them. Revell's core are the beginners and average modelers.

For what i saw a NNl East, the new kit have stock 1970 seats in front and the inside door panels are correct for stock version!

And the grille has closed hideaway headlights, unlike the die-cast version...

The wheels are not the same too, the rear are wider with more accurate looking slicks!.

It's clearly a new tool..

And M. Sexton told me that the stock version is coming too!

Can't wait to see it!

F&F movie franchise is the 8th largest grossing film franchise in history. $3.9 Billion

Far ahead of other talkies like Iron Man, Mission Impossible, and even the Ed Sullivan Show!!

Chrysler didn't gross $3.9 Billion selling every single Charger since beginning of time.

Old guys whining about a $25 stock kit of a 46yo muscle car that'll get bought with an HL 40% off coupon probably not going to make model company's blow out their sales projections.

Agree on the wheels Casey

Stock or not, this kit has some serious potential. I've been wanting a decent '70 Charger for a long time without having to pay "Johan premium" for it, or fight with resin castings that may or may not have imperfections, be exact, etc... I intend to buy at least 2~3 of this kit AND a number of them when the base stock kits come out. The look of that engine alone just screams "parts swap" !!!

Now, I wonder what the General Lee would look like with a blower popping out of the hood like that.....

Looks like all I need is the R/T door scoops...Awesome! I've been as loud as anybody about getting a 70', I think I've started a few threads here. The Ebay prices alone for the ol AMT kits are through the roof, just like individual parts for the AMT kit. I almost bid on the grille alone, it went up to $27....the kits routinely go for $90-225...I think it'll be a gold mine kit for Revell, glad they came around....I get the F+F starter kit, and I can wait just a bit longer for my R/T....thanks Ed, I'll chew on your ear at next Nats...
