I guess my favourite and best paint job to date is my 71 442 Olds. My first attempt at painting it red ended in tears and the Olds going for a dip in the iso propyl alcohol bath. But, l rebounded and produced my best job so far, victory from the jaws of defeat as they say. Cheers, Stuart.IMG_2481.jpeg.eaecaaffc7bbf5e7df74b19f8184c5b7.jpegIMG_2478.jpeg.d5d758c458a19a60d1779387bfeb1be0.jpeg

Oh yeah Stuart...beautiful but ya didn't say what paint it is 🤔

G’day Mike, Tamiya TS-8 Italian red over their red oxide surface primer. Then 5 coats of TS-13 starting with very light coats, ( to guard against decals wrinkling ) building up to a final wet coat. Then I left it for a month or so and slowly rubbed it out with 8,000 then 12,000 grit micro mesh. I fluked it, as the bodies I’ve sprayed since just haven’t come out as well despite using much the same technique.

Well all the attention to detail and that long process sure paid off. Just beautiful.

Me, I have no patience to finish a paint job over month long process.

Again, terrific job👍👍

Thanks Mike! I tend to use Tamiya TS-13 gloss clear right out of the can, or Testors Extreme Laquer clear. Then wet sanding/polishing to a certain extent depending on how the color/clear coats go on. The black cars are all Tamiya TS-14. All of these cars were sprayed with rattle cans, except for the belt lines on the Nova (can't remember if it was Tamiya clear orange, or Testors Colors by Boyd Orange Pearl...), and the Vantastic, they were airbrushed.

Cheers

Well Mathias,   they all look terrific.
