Harry Joy Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 When I was 39 years old, I had a similar talk with my doc. When he took X-rays, he came out white as a sheet. Turns out I'd been toughing out and feeling like a baby while walking around with dust instead of a right hip. Many months later, after I finally had my (first) hip replacement, when I was in the recovery room I shook the doctor's hand. Even then I could tell the pain was gone.Unfortunately I'd been toughing it out so long I'd done lots of damage, and could not walk. It took months of rehab to get me 100%, but once there, the pain was gone and no one could tell I'd had a hip replaced. Changed my life in many ways. A few years later, I had my other hip done.10 years on now, I need a third replacement (the second one on my other hip wasn't as positive an experience), but when the time comes I'm ready.Hang in there Harry. It will get better. I can promise you this.
snacktruck67 Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Sorry to hear the pain at night. I can relate to that. I have pain in my legs every night for at least 8 to 10 hours. I can not sleep at all. And as you said one feels like BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH the next day. I can't even sleep in a be anymore. If I do sleep at all it is in a recliner. I just can't lay flat anymore. Even when I go to the hospital for an overnight stay, I end up sitting up all night. So I hope you get some relief soon. I suffer from diabetes, with upper and lower nuropathy, a bad heart, kidney disease. There is no relief for me anytime in the future. Best of luck.
Dave Van Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I've had my own battles over the years so I fully understand.Prayers to you it all goes well with least down time.

Harry P. Posted June 15, 2016 Author Posted June 15, 2016 Thanks to all for your kind words and good wishes.Harry... you went through hell. I pray my situation won't be as bad, but the fact that you came through it ok is pretty much a "shot in the arm" for me. Thanks.
Harry P. Posted June 15, 2016 Author Posted June 15, 2016 Congrats on the news not being worse Harry. You're the main reason I use these forums.Man, that means a lot to me. Thank you.
peekay Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Hope the news continues to be good Harry.Being a lung-cancer survivor (the right lung was removed 6 years ago) I know about those sleepless nights. All the best, we need you.
madhorseman Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Sorry to hear You've been going through some health issues, hope You get through it all alright.
crazyjim Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 What happened to the "golden years"? Health issues are no fun and I sincerely hope your pain is easily cured, Harry.
cobraman Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Man, that means a lot to me. Thank you. Now how much fun would this forum be without you reminding us to install mirrors and stay away from floating alternators !!
GTJUNIOR Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Now how much fun would this forum be without you reminding us to install mirrors and stay away from floating alternators !! Not to mention all the expert advice and wealth of knowledge that you share with us all.
Harry P. Posted June 26, 2016 Author Posted June 26, 2016 I have had a series of tests... EKG, blood, urine. X-rays of my left hip (where the pain is), and chest X-rays. All have come back normal. Normal blood pressure, normal white blood cell count, normal blood sugar level... normal, normal, normal.I have an appointment with an orthopedic specialist on Monday. Pretty sure he will want me to have an MRI done on my hip in order to see what's going on there. In the meantime, the docs have given me plenty of nerve pills and muscle relaxants to get me through.
bobthehobbyguy Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 That is good news. Its good to know all those things are normal. Take care of yourself.
JollySipper Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 You're in a medicinal-legal state, Harry........ Dump those pills! It's good for pain, your nerves, relaxation, will keep your blood pressure down, and help with your appetite (the munchies!)
Harry P. Posted June 26, 2016 Author Posted June 26, 2016 I don't think I want to start up with that. It's just substituting one drug for another. In either case I'd still be relying on drugs to feel ok.
Ramfins59 Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Good to hear that all of your results are normal Harry. Not only do you keep us all in line here on the Forum, but we enjoy looking at your fabulous models.
Harry P. Posted June 26, 2016 Author Posted June 26, 2016 Thanks, Rich... but lately I have had no desire to build. I feel like crap every day and that's the one thing on my mind constantly. I just hope they will be able to figure out what's wrong with me and fix it. I've had just about enough of this... it's been going on for months.
High octane Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 What happened to the "golden years"? Health issues are no fun and I sincerely hope your pain is easily cured, Harry. To some of us, the "golden years" are also known as the "rusty years." My uncle compared getting older is like an old car, our parts wear out.
1930fordpickup Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Harry it is good to here that they are narrowing down what the problem might be. But I do not care what the DOC says I am not buying that Normal, Normal, Normal results. No one from Chicago is even close to normal. Laughter is the best Medicine after all.
JollySipper Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I don't think I want to start up with that. It's just substituting one drug for another. In either case I'd still be relying on drugs to feel ok.You didn't crack a joke? You really MUST be miserable...... I'm sorry...My Dad tore the rotator cuff in his left shoulder catching a guy that had fallen off a ladder. In the year of MRIs and waiting for a proper surgeon, he also developeda bone spur in the injured shoulder. After surgery and 6 months of physical therapy though, He's back to normal.........Erry Thang Gonna Be Alright............!!
Harry P. Posted June 26, 2016 Author Posted June 26, 2016 I took a Valium a few hours ago. Nothing. Pain is incredible. I tried to lie down and go to sleep... not happening. Pain is too intense. I took another Valium just now. Man, I need relief, but it's not happening. This is no way to live.
slusher Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Harry, they will find the source. Hang in there. Worry and the pain is not helping you. So glad you had normal results on your tests. That rules out many bad things. Don't hesitate to take something for pain until they find the exact source,,
