This would be my re-entry into the hobby. This is the first kit I have built in over 20 years and the first big rig I have done in over 35 years. I can see several of my mistakes, but it will be a learning experience for me. The pictures are not very good (still learning how to take photos of models). This is just a box stock build with only paint details ( I should have taken a picture of the interior before completion). The color is Tamiya TS-92 Metallic Orange. Thanks for looking.

I think that turned out fantastic. Your masking job is perfection. The intake pipes, door handles...masking done perfectly.

Now give that a matching trailer!

What a sharp looking build and the color really makes it stand out! This is one of the nicest KW snap kit builds I've seen...well done.

This one is not the snap kit, although you wouldn't know it with all the visible tabs on the body and steps.

Hate to brake the news to you, but it actually is a snap kit (Revell USA reissue of a Monogram kit).  The box doesn't say "Snap-Tite", but it is a snap kit.  I've built three of them from various reissues & they are all snaps.  It doesn't mean that you can't glue it, just that you don't have to.  It's the same with the Revell USA Peterbilt 359; that's a snap kit, too.  Great kit, can do a lot with it; but the tires are not very good.  The Revell of Germany Kenworth W900 & Peterbilt 359 are full glue kits.

I'm not familiar with trucks, so pardon the possibly dumb question... but don't all tractors have some sort of gizmo mounted right behind the cab ("pogo stick") with the air and electric lines to hook up to the trailer? Does this kit not include that detail?

Posted (edited)

No Harry not all trucks do. Alot of them just had a spring suspending from the back of the cab or you might just see them laid across the frame rail behind the tanks, depends largely on how long the wheelbase is.

I did not know that, it does explain alot about the kit for sure. It would also explain the cheaper price it carried.

But in any case, the tractor would have air and electric lines, right?

Yes! Back years ago about the only trucks that had pogo sticks around here were pete"s & K/w's. It's not 100% correct but just a builders choice whether to include airlines. This is a great looking truck without them!!

This looks like an old timer job.  Looks great!  One of my favorite kits.  I've done four of these without a drop of glue, except for the parts I broke.

This is an awesome job. I have the Peterbilt 359 Snap Tite one and thought it was strictly glue as well. Quick question I have been forewarned about the wheels/tires being an issue. Did you have any issues getting them straight?

that looks great, beautiful color. nice clean sharp looking rig, well done. and welcome back to buildingB)

I have to admit, these old KW snappers look pretty darned good.....I'm really diggin' the color choice, too.....You can't beat the price, for sure......And with a little TLC, they look great.....Awesome job....

No, I didn't have any issues at all, I had read about that problem, so I just enlarged the holes a bit with a sharp Xacto knife.
