Maybe you should go back to the first diecast body kit made by Monogram a few decades ago...remember the diecast 53 Corvette? :)

I always thought it was ironic that we have been building plastic models of metal cars and now we can build a metal model of a plastic car :)

Nowadays it's all about the cost and the profit and that diecast is probable less to produce with a higher profit margin. Oh, lots of people like the feel of a metal body car, like all the diecast collectors :)

Foreigners!  Daytona Beach, as said just gives a pleasant thought of beach.

I was in England a few years ago at a pub and their drink special was a "Long Island Beach Ice Tea".   I tried to explain to them that it was just called a Long Island Ice Tea and they weren't having it.  They even refused to believe there was no Long Island Beach!     And I bet they made it all wrong too!  :P

Tom remember there are a lot of "foreigners" as you call them right here on this forum ;), Some of us know that a Long Island Ice tea is the correct name.........but then some US folks think that because we live in the UK we all personally know the Queen, speak like Dick Van Dyke in Mary poppins and that our gardens back onto Buckingham Palace. !

As for the Daytona refrence on the Bburago Corvette..........No idea ! perhaps they are referring to the horrid yellow shade they have used ...thinking it looks like a beach ....it doesn't !. Lol

Bburago make die cast cars, metal body and plastic chassis. They sell it as built or in kit. In the old (1970-1980) kit they had sticker type of decals, after they went with water decals.

Gary, I spent my early years living around the world.  I know what it's like to be "THE" American.  I work in an International company with much diversity in our offices, and work with facilities on three continents daily. I actually share an office with a Brit and an Indian. So I say things in jest.  No worries.

PS -  You mean you don't speak like Dick Van Dyke?  :P

Same here. What the heck does Daytona Beach have to do with this car?

Same as LeMans to a Pontiac, or Monza to a Chevy. a Speed event that makes the named Car eithr "faster" or more interesting. Until '61 they were still running the Speed Trials on the Beach.
