Porscheman
This is a build for an upcoming "Paper Bag Contest" and the blind color envelope I chose was yellow. So I decided to try Dupli-color Metalcast rattle can paint job. I started with their base coat, which is a silver heavy metallic and then applied their yellow. The 2 tone was achieved with their purple and 2 coats of the yellow on top. The body was then top coated with Testors Wet Look Clear. The interior is matching and the glass was tinted with 5 very light coats of Tamiya Clear Orange. The wheels and tires are Steven Zimmermann's excellent "Z Wheels" I also added a set of 50's period Spotlight/mirror combo units and I added MV's for the missing spotlight lenses. Does it need anything? Thanks guys, Al Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
Mike C
You sure did a great job! Beautiful!
Ramfins59
Very sharp Al. It could maybe use some lake pipes, and an antenna in the middle of the trunk lid...... maybe some blue dots in the taillights?
Intmd8r
Never thought I would say “Edsel” and “Cool” in the same sentence, but there you are….. Cool Edsel build!
RestoModGuy
Al, this turned out simply cool, cool, cool... At first I wasn't sure what color combo direction you were going when you showed it in paint stage, but gotta tell ya, it just works... another well done Al

Porscheman
Thanks guys. I had fun with this one and the colors was a shot in the dark and it worked, who'd a thunk. Al

Porscheman
Thank you Everyone. I added a set of Lake Pipes with aluminum straight pipe tips. My Billet steering wheels come tomorrow and then I'll drop the rear end a little. Al Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
'70 Grande
Now its just missing a license plate! May I suggest "YEDSEL" in reference to the great paint color! Oh yeah... this is an awesome build!
Porscheman
Thank you Mark. Tom Gieger is in the process of making this plate for me right now. Al Hosted on Fotki Edited July 28, 2016 by Porscheman

Yenkocamaro
That Edsel turned out pretty Kool My only suggestion would be to put chrome lake pipes on that are plain, with the cap on the end. The heat shield is too much, and takes away from the look. To me, it draws attention to itself, rather than complimenting the custom look of the other features all together. Nice Job Cheers, Lance

Maindrian Pace
Looks great, but street machine side pipes are not lake pipes. Straight lake pipes with single or triple outlets, and the only other thing I'd consider is a set of dual rear fender antennas. Good call on dropping the rear end a bit. Porscheman
That Edsel turned out pretty Kool My only suggestion would be to put chrome lake pipes on that are plain, with the cap on the end. The heat shield is too much, and takes away from the look. To me, it draws attention to itself, rather than complimenting the custom look of the other features all together. Nice Job Cheers, Lance I took your advice and changed the pipes to cleaner looking ones. I still need to add the rear antenna's, but how does it look now. I only build replica stocks, so a low custom is way out of my comfort zone. Al Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
