The Junkman Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Nothing interesting this time around but if someone would start the ball rolling on a kit of the Riviera in the background that would be great!
Dave Ambrose Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 There were preview pictures of the Excelsior at Comic Con. It looks like a excellent kit. I think I might have to get one of those The Pacer? I thought they were ugly when they came out. Now my taste in cars is more refined, and well, I still think they're ugly.
1930fordpickup Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Does the Pacer has the inline 6 in it? I like the monthly release videos we get to see what is out now.
W-409 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 That Pacer might be worth building. It would be fun little car when built stock... We'll see.Otherwise I see nothing that catches my interest too much. That Nomad would be great, but since it's 1/16 scale it's not for me. I mean, it would be fun to try a bigger scale kit, but the problem is that I had to buy all aftermarket stuff separately as I have zero aftermarket parts, wiring etc for that big scale cars. So I think I'll be passing that one.
Edsel-Dan Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I can show what I did with that Pacer Wagon. Note, the wood-grain is Balsa border & Contact paper insert I saw one at the local Safeway/Thriftway when I was getting ready to build, and duplicated that car

I remember the pacer like it was yesterday and that one looks just like the pacer that used to be down the street from me. Thanks for showing this one. Jeff
horsepower Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I like these video reviews since Round 2 started doing them. The Cameo comment of course is wrong. But, why are a lot of you making a big deal about that? He made a simple mistake. Like none of you ever do that?Thankfully there is only one new thing I want this month. Round 2 has been releasing so much stuff I do want recently, that I'm about to go broke. This month, I'm really only interested in the Pacer wagon. All he did was read the packaging on that "Cameo" pickup, looks like whoever is in charge of proofreading the art work for the die cast packaging doesn't understand that "Chevrolet Cameo" isn't the name of the truck line, and that Cameo is a separate body style. Sad thing is most packaging now days seems to be done in the U.S. so we can't blame the Chinese for a lack of knowledge about U.S. automobile and truck names.

Both he, I, and others made mistakes. He for not knowing what he read was wrong. I for not noticing that the packaging claimed the model to be a Cameo rather than a step side. The others at Round 2 letting the box be labeled wrong. I'm not happy that Round 2 made this mistake. But, at the same time I don't see it as being an overly big thing. You know it's wrong. I know it's wrong. If it bothers me that much, I just won't buy the product. At the same time, I will not be buying the Stooge Cameo pickup truck because I don't collect 1/18 scale prebuilt models. I don't really have the space for them. The mistake on the packaging will have nothing to do with it.

unclescott58 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Looking forward to the reviews on the Pacer wagon; might just grab that one. Re the Stooges '55 truck: Shouldn't it have Shemp instead of Curly? I think putting Curly on the truck, rather than Shemp, is more of a problem than calling the truck a Cameo. A year or so ago I bought a box set of all of the Three Stooges shorts. After going through them, I think Shemp doesn't get the respect he deserves. Curly is great. Don't get me wrong. But I think Shemp is every bit as good in a different sort of way. It's almost like comparing apples to oranges. And since Shemp's shorts were out in the theaters when the Chevy truck was built. It should be Shemp, not Curly on the truck.

But then unlike him I'm old enough to remember when the Cameo's were new trucks.Since I don't collect 1/18th scale die-cast either I won't be owning one either.
horsepower Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 (edited) As a point of curiosity, has anyone seen or heard when that Camaro will be hitting the hobby shop shelves?Going to answer my own question. My local plastic pusher says according to his supplier that the AMT 2016 Camaro kits, (all three, one in plain white, one molded in color, and since the box art is a red car I'm assuming red. And one billed as a snap kit in silver) won't be shipped until the end of September, so I wonder about the August news bulletin. Edited August 4, 2016 by horsepower
Jordan White Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 At last ! The 1955 Nomad makes its return ! No more ridiculous ebay prices ! My only concern : were those garbage custom tyres replaced with new versions ? Considering the box art is the same as the last release (which I own), I'm going to go with no. (This is not a guarantee that they didn't, but I would rather assume not and be surprised if they did!)
Edsel-Dan Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Forgot to add, I did Not realize the stupid's Pickup was NOT the kit, so NO it will not have both pickup box options.Won't have one either. Mostly for scale, but NEVER liked them Idiots either
