Impala_Ant Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Here is my MPC 1972 Chevrolet Impala. This car was built as a replica of my Grandmother's car she had bought brand new in 1972. It is painted in the factory color (the name escapes me right now) and a vinyl roof was added. The last few pictures are of how originally got this kit.
FordRodnKustom Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Nice restoration considering what you started with. Well done.
GMCMAN52 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 you made grandma proud. nice save and great repair work
Can-Con Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Nice save !. Great to see these old kits given the attention they deserve.
Robberbaron Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Nice save. Â A friend of mine had a 1:1 '72 Impala Custom coupe, metallic blue. Â Ordered by his dad with the 400 small block, very sharp car.
Kit Basher Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I would never have thought what you started with could end up looking so good. Great job!
'70 Grande Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Wow, that is an amazing save! Â Nicely done! Â How'd you get those chrome-plated headlights to look so good?
Impala_Ant Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 I use a drop of Elmers glue in the headlights and spread it with a straight pin until it's covered the way I want. You have to use very little glue to get the right look. The best part of this technique is if you don't like it, just wipe it off and do it again!
Hubert Rollins Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Cool- I faintly remember someone in my family having this model in brown... an aunt or uncle, I can't remember... I was just a tyke.
Fanof69 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Very nice save. Love the model and the diorama. Really adds to the realism!!
Speedfreak Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Wow, nice job on this save! Totally trashed by original builder.
c. jackson Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 great save! my wife had a 72 impala that color
Grumpa Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Nice save Anthony! I had one of these, red with a 350, back in '77 - '78. Great car until I ran it into a lower parking garage building support. Sure wish I had it now! Oh well....youth is wasted on the young!
