Warren D Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 A model of my first car from the AMT COPO kit. Made a few mods to get it looking like a 72. 1
Snake45 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Nice, clean build! I believe the kit's Revell, though.I too had a yellow Nova for a while--a '69. It was the pale yellow, though, not the bright yellow.
Warren D Posted August 15, 2016 Author Posted August 15, 2016 Mine was Cream Yellow, the photo is a little darker than the model.
shoopdog Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Very nice Nova. My first car was a blue 68 Nova, sure wish I still had it.
MyBradKeselowski Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Great looking Nova ! Very impressive !
Mike Chernecki Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Looks good. I still have my Mom and Dad's 1969 Nova in Butternut Yellow.
1959scudetto Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 A model of my first car from the AMT COPO kit. Made a few mods to get it looking like a 72. looks like a wolf in a sheep's cloth - the REAL sleeper !
Warren D Posted August 16, 2016 Author Posted August 16, 2016 Thanks all. It was a good car, probably the cheapest I'll ever own. Bought it with 46K and sold it 5 years later with 150K. Had a 307 with a mild cam and factory 3 speed on the floor. It moved ok for it's time....
lghtngyello03 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) Awesome build! Love this color, would like to paint my 70 SS Monte Carlo this color. What is the name/brand?? Looks close to Safari Yellow? I bought this same kit 2 weekends ago at AC Moore using a 55% off coupon, lol. Plan on painting my Copo this Green Mist Metallic. Edited August 16, 2016 by lghtngyello03
Warren D Posted August 16, 2016 Author Posted August 16, 2016 The official name was Cream Yellow. The other yellow that year was called Sunfower but it was darker and had a touch of brown. That was for 1972. Back then GM changed the name of the color often but kept the same color and the color code for several years.
unclescott58 Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Very nice build Warren. Saw a lot of Novas like that back in the day. I like it.
