sjordan2 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 I thought you were going to outdo yourself again, and I was right.
BrianC Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Very nice Sir!I feel it would be a shame to hide the engine - it is such a huge component of the car - and a work of art in this model. Have you considered adding the straps in an open hood configuration? It really would be a shame to close it up forever! Just a thought - it is however your model and it will be in your showcase.I enjoyed following your build too .
sjordan2 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Totally agree with Brian C and the others who think the model should be displayed with an open hood. The engine is the signature feature, and your work on it is a masterpiece.
gtx6970 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Harry....simply gorgeous! It's your call to make, of course, but if it were me, I''d forego that straps and leave that incredible engine compartment available to show off from now until....well....many, many years from now. Agreed, on both accounts. No way would I close it up for good
Harry P. Posted August 24, 2016 Author Posted August 24, 2016 Yeah, I guess it would be pretty dumb to close the hood for good after all the time I spent on that engine. I guess I'll just have the straps open and laying loose on each side of the car.
Peter Lombardo Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Wow, pretty slick craftsmanship.... I love those old "Internals Exposed" engines..... really well done.
bbowser Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Another beauty Harry! You make it awful tough on the rest of us
Dann Tier Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 As always, Harry, Fantastic job!! -don't really know what my favorite part of you build is, LoL. Realism is the goal, and you reached it!
Silver Foxx Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Your builds always look so real , great skills , well done . I have a friend who has just built this and it looks great .
Ulbo Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Best of the best I agree with opinion that this is Museum guality model.
1959scudetto Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Outstanding work on this fantastic model, Harry!Attach the leather straps, but leave the hood open - you must not hide the engine !!!
victorylane Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 Harry,Man, that is pretty! Thanks for posting, it is a feast for the eyes.Brian
58 Impala Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Beautiful model, your attention to detail is outstanding. Harry, have you thought of using tiny rare earth magnets to secure the hood straps when displaying the hood closed?
Harry P. Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 Beautiful model, your attention to detail is outstanding. Harry, have you thought of using tiny rare earth magnets to secure the hood straps when displaying the hood closed? There are brackets mounted to the wooden caps on the frame rails that the belts are attached to. I could remove the two brackets on one side and use the magnets. Do you have a source for them?
Phildaupho Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Harry - I would like to thank you for keeping the building of classic/vintage/historic model cars alive as an inspiration to other modellers to tackle such project. I have a few in my stash I hope to get to one of these days.
