BrianC
Very nice Sir!I feel it would be a shame to hide the engine - it is such a huge component of the car - and a work of art in this model. Have you considered adding the straps in an open hood configuration? It really would be a shame to close it up forever! Just a thought - it is however your model and it will be in your showcase.I enjoyed following your build too .
sjordan2
Totally agree with Brian C and the others who think the model should be displayed with an open hood. The engine is the signature feature, and your work on it is a masterpiece.
gtx6970
Harry....simply gorgeous! It's your call to make, of course, but if it were me, I''d forego that straps and leave that incredible engine compartment available to show off from now until....well....many, many years from now. Agreed, on both accounts. No way would I close it up for good
Harry P.
Yeah, I guess it would be pretty dumb to close the hood for good after all the time I spent on that engine. I guess I'll just have the straps open and laying loose on each side of the car.

58 Impala
Beautiful model, your attention to detail is outstanding. Harry, have you thought of using tiny rare earth magnets to secure the hood straps when displaying the hood closed?

Harry P.
Beautiful model, your attention to detail is outstanding. Harry, have you thought of using tiny rare earth magnets to secure the hood straps when displaying the hood closed? There are brackets mounted to the wooden caps on the frame rails that the belts are attached to. I could remove the two brackets on one side and use the magnets. Do you have a source for them?
Phildaupho
Harry - I would like to thank you for keeping the building of classic/vintage/historic model cars alive as an inspiration to other modellers to tackle such project. I have a few in my stash I hope to get to one of these days.
