PatW Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I've built this box stock and added an air filter, and tyre decals. Painted in Plasti-Kote spray can Copper, not entirely happy with the bonnet, but can just running out, ordered another and it's come in the post a different shade. I suppose batches of paint colour change slightly, but it was noticably darker.Suprised no air filter in the kit and it doesn't show one on the instructions. Both doors opened and closed fine until I tried to get the tub in then they wouldn't close so glued them shut.
shoopdog Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Nice build. That's one crazy looking machine.
carman1 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Ive never seen one of these actually built, looks nice, interesting custom !
aurfalien Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Cheers Brian, yes now what colour?Dunno, your color is koooool though.I'll prolly start it after 3 builds. The one is almost done, the 2nd is half done, the third is in the parts gathering stage. Then I've 2 long term builds that I dabble in here and there. Hope to post something this weekend.
gtx6970 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Cool.I dont think ive ever seen one of these built
Snake45 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Cool.I dont think ive ever seen one of these builtI haven't seen many if ANY, either. Very nice!I want to do one someday, and iron out the asymmetry. I have an original MPC I've been sitting on for almost 50 years, and bought a couple of the reissues a few years ago. I'm thinking of either replacing the top with something else, or just going topless with it. Have also played with the idea of making a VW-powered dune buggy/kit car type deal out of it.
FordRodnKustom Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Just don't see many of these built these days. Excellent build of a classic. Thanks for posting and well done. Just for reference
DumpyDan Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Looks good, I have one I have always wanted to convert to the oringnal issue. But I like yours.

The top is part of the body, so that would need slicing off, but there's another idea of how this could look, I look forward to seeing it. Yes it would look good too with VW/Corvair/Porsche power in the back, although the chassis would need serious reworking or use a beetle chassis!
PatW Posted October 27, 2016 Author Posted October 27, 2016 Thanks guys for your comments, It's not an easy kit to build though.
Dann Tier Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Another well-done, unique build!!, the color fits it perfectly too!
