Jordan White Posted December 27, 2016 Author Posted December 27, 2016 Do we post builds here? This will be the main thread to post in, but you may also post a build thread in the on-the-workbench section!
tbill Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 here is the kit i am starting with, i did one a couple of years ago for another on-line contest, and don't have the model [was part of the contest, they supplied kit, you built it, and sent it back] and bought this kit to replicate it, but i think a color change is going to be in order. here is my first build of this kit, looking forward to building it again.
log trucker Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Not much of a start but I got it dug out of my stash and out of the box.
mchook Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I know it should be 1 ton & smaller but what about this? Its a 1950 Chevy 3100 nose so I'm not sure if it meets the requirements. Please let me know.
Jordan White Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 That would work as long as it uses the same chassis as the pickup.
Jhedir6 Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 (edited) Im in on this too. I've got a few truck kits kicking around that need to be finished. I'm going to go with one started, lightly. Meng Ford F350. And it's, as stated above, already underway, this one is going to be lowered and customized just a bit. My inspiration for this build. It wont be exactly like the 1:1 but i do plan on using the same colour combination. As of right now it looks like this Dually fenders from Daniel @ Scenes Unlimited and low-pro wheels and tires from a Jada diecast. Everything else will be mostly box stock other then a few mods to the body work and some added ground effects. Paint is from Scale Finishes, which I already have, Ferrari Grigio Silverstone and HoK Sunset Pearl Orange. Probably wont get anything done this month, I have a bunch of stuff on the go and the FB group build for the 24HR of Daytona coming up, I likely get to this starting in February. Looking forward to seeing some trucks built up.David Edited January 6, 2017 by Jhedir6
Zarana-X Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 I'm down with this. Waiting for this to arrive from Amazon:http://round2corp.com/product/1975-datsun-scavenger-monster-pickup/ I can't guarantee steady updates, though.
Jordan White Posted January 6, 2017 Author Posted January 6, 2017 I hope to get started on my build this weekend, I've been busy lately since I got back from New Years!
Canso65 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 I think I'll join in on the fun here. I'm going to build an AMT Ford 78 4x4.I'll start a build thread under the trucks section.
o-man Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I'm in with this Ranger Splash, Will be going for a little bit of a pre-runner style, These Ranger kits have riser blocks for stock ride height builds. I happen to have several of them, so I double stacked them on suspension, I'm going to use the tires and wheels from the Lindberg Off-Road F150, This is hopeful stance I'm looking for, Truck will be painted orange; already seen purple pond thanks to Rustoleum. NEVER AGAIN. Will try to use 5.0L out of the 90 LX Mustang drag car.
Belugawrx Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Cool stuff so far ,.. Nice Dually David Im in,...gonna try to replicate the Hummer in gone in 60 sec Decided on There may be blood... Cheers
Jordan White Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 Nice progress o-man! I'm excited to see the Hummer as well, especially if you pull off the color shift paint! Don't forget the snake! ?
Intmd8r Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Nice Bruce! That version of "Gone in 60 Seconds " is in my top 5 all time car movies. If I remember correctly, didn't that H1 have colour change paint? Sounds like an interesting challenge!BTW-that workbench of yours looks like a 1:1 chop shop with the 'Stang & chassis in pieces in the background. Very fitting for the movie theme.
Intmd8r Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Found my entry: a '37 Chevy, a.k.a. Orange Blossom Special II A fresh delivery from eBay. Been looking to get my hands on this kit for years. Finally found one at a reasonable price, with the engine block started. Luckily for me, the previous owner actually knew what they were doing and wired/plumbed the engine. Doesn't mean that I won't blow it apart and add my own touch to it tho. It will be a while before I start this one - have too many on the go already lol
Belugawrx Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Whoa...Now that is something you don't see too often.......Nice score Steve
Canso65 Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Had a little time to start on my build this morning. As you can see I am kit bashing the 77 GMC wrecker with the 78 Firestone Ford 4x4. Last year I built a Diamond Reo Texaco Fuel truck (well started it anyway) and have wanted to build a gas station wrecker in Texaco colors to go along with the DR.
o-man Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Just a small update. Finally got orange paint stripped, Engine from 90 Mustang drag car, Think I will paint block Ford blue vs, making it look like an aluminum block. Pretty sure I will use aftermarket intake and headers
Canso65 Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 You've done some nice surgery on the Humvee Bruce.I like where you're going with this.
