Junkman Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Today, a man with a big van arrived at my house. When he left, the van was still big, but no longer empty.
espo Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Today, a man with a big van arrived at my house. When he left, the van was still big, but no longer empty. Are you selling of some of your stash or are you moving ?
Dragline Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 I know people clamoring for the Mad Max car I see there.
Tom Geiger Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 That's a very nice diorama! I especially like the way you created the van interior with all the structural members and the patience it took to make all those scale boxes!
iamsuperdan Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 I know people clamoring for the Mad Max car I see there. No kidding! I've been hunting for the Mad Max interceptor for quite a while now!
Dragline Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 I bought one off eBay and posted the build here last year. I paid 55.00 for the kit and that was before the explosion. They go for far more than that now.
Xingu Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 That's a very nice diorama! I especially like the way you created the van interior with all the structural members and the patience it took to make all those scale boxes! Now that is funny!
disabled modeler Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 No kidding! I've been hunting for the Mad Max interceptor for quite a while now! Me too....I want to build a highway diorama with one and scale figures but would be from the first movie. The 4 door police MFP car would be cool too.
BigTallDad Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 I think I like this thread more than the "What did I get today" post, although I'm a tad skeptical of those boxes in that well-done trailer. Just take a look at all those tiny, evenly spaced drilled holes in the roof ribs if you think this is a diorama...
unclescott58 Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 I didn't know we're aloud to get rid of anything. I thought we stuck with this plastic until we die.Scott
keyser Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 (edited) My bet is a Ford Transit. The Lotus Submarine is cool, as are a few others. Mad Max Aoshima is nuts now? Never paid attention, had mine for ages. Pretty sure it's Aoshima. Wish you were in US, we could relieve you of some of that. Hope outcome was good for you, some well picked kits in there. mk11 Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Got looking at my own pile of recent arrivals... time to go through the main stash again and send another box to big brothers or maybe even the troops mike

disabled modeler Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Got looking at my own pile of recent arrivals... time to go through the main stash again and send another box to big brothers or maybe even the troops mike That is a nice thought Mike. I did not see the Lotus submarine car kit....like to have one of those as well. I have a old movie give away that they gave out back in the 70s at our local theater of 2 scale 007 James Bond figures in a package of Roger Moore that are about 1/25th.
Junkman Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 Spill the beans Junkman, Ya thinning out your Hoard?Don't feel bad, I've been doing that for 5 yrs..Got my stash down to just one room now.. Some 700 odd kits went into that van, hopefully to never be seen by me again. The goal is indeed to get the collection down to one room, too, but I haven't quite achieved that yet.Still, it's a surprisingly liberating feeling and I sure will continue.I guess it's age related. The more I know, the less I need.I'm currently down to only four real cars as well and two of them are for sale.Next I will sell some of my 15 bicycles.
Junkman Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 Oh, and honestly, I have no idea what that van is. Couldn't care less about it either. My guess is Mercfordeotwagenault Mastersprintranscraft or some such.Don't they all come from the same factory in Bangladesh, or sum such?
D. Battista Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 No kidding! I've been hunting for the Mad Max interceptor for quite a while now! On the way to a flea market in my pick up I forgot to secure one box of models, It came off the truck on the highway and I didn't notice till someone asked if I had any Dukes of Hazzard stuff... Then I realized that box was gone. Along with an original MPC General Lee, Daisy's jeep, and Rosco's police car... a Bajha Beast... an Indy 3 car set.. and a Mad Max interceptor.... I wasn't planning on getting RID of them that way..

Erik Smith Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 (edited) I thinned the herd over the last two years. From, well, high point of maybe 600 to easily on one shelving unit now - probably 40-50? Really felt good getting openness back. While I like looking at unbuilt kits for some reason, I knew I wouldn't build 95% of the models. I would buy one and by the time I finished a model, I would have 0 motivation to work on the one I bought 6 months or a year ago, so...I did some the slow way - individually, then switched to big boxes and lots. I don't regret selling any. Edited January 7, 2017 by Erik Smith
