Intmd8r Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 My take on the Jimmy Flintstone Woody I custom made the drop spindles and lowering blocks to get the right “stance” Some parts were added from my parts bin, but otherwise it is a kit stock chassis
DonW Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 That's really well done, I'd like a 1:1 like that!
dragstk Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Excellent build. I really like the patina! Its good to see cars that are well "used"
geetee66 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Proper grimy!Nice weathering and the interior wear & tear looks convincing. I also dig the use of the decals on the dash top.
D. Battista Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Very COOL build....!I was watching the W.I.P. ....and you did a fantastic job on the old Merc...!!! Love the dashboard..!
donb Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Proper grimy!Nice weathering and the interior wear & tear looks convincing. I also dig the use of the decals on the dash top. I agree. It is one cool looking car.
Intmd8r Posted February 8, 2017 Author Posted February 8, 2017 Thanks everyone. Had fun with this one. Surprised at how popular the dash is lol.
Foxer Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Every piece is done right and the whole adds to more. I'm going to have look back at this on the bench for how you did the wood.
espo Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 All your hard work really shows. The "ageing " looks like it might have been a coastal car that had to sit out in the fog at night.
slusher Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Awesome build, love the weathering on your woody!!!
Intmd8r Posted February 8, 2017 Author Posted February 8, 2017 I'm going to have look back at this on the bench for how you did the wood. Thanks again for the positive feedback.I hadn’t covered the wood in detail in the build, so I’ll quickly sum up what I did. First, I brushed on Testors Enamel Wood on the wood frame over the black primer. Made sure to leave brush stokes and some of the primer showing to help create the missing wood grain effect. Next I created my own “wash” by diluting some Tan Acrylic with water. Then I air brushed white Acrylic over that.We used to have an old garage made from reclaimed Cedar planks. As the Cedar aged naturally, it turned from a red to black and grey. That’s what I tried here with the panels/inserts.After the kit decals were applied, I again used the air brush with Acrylic black to shade in the panels.Next, I used my trusty black wash on all of the wood. Things went too dark for my liking, so I used a damp paper towel to remove the excess wash to bring back some of the color.I’m sure that there are different ways of achieving this effect, but this was my first time and I got the results that I was hoping for.
Prince Ital Mike Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Beautiful, I especially like the dashboard!
bobthehobbyguy Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Love it. Great job on the weathering and the dash. Where is the decals from the dash comr from?
Intmd8r Posted February 8, 2017 Author Posted February 8, 2017 Love it. Great job on the weathering and the dash. Where is the decals from the dash comr from? Thanks! Most of the decals were from the Revell kit, some are left over decals from other kits.
wrecker388 Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Loving this! It has a perfect, aggressive look to it. If it were real I'd drive it every day! Great work!
