DRIPTROIT 71 Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 My youngest son turns 8 next week. He wanted to go to the swap meet in Salisbury with me this morning. He picked out an early birthday present. He and I put it together this morning. This was his first build. He wanted me to post it. IMG_2088 by Brian Smith, on Flickr 1

olsbooks Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 By far one of the finest builds to date in my less than humble opinion. Truly an OUTSTANDING effort and accomplishment few dare tackle much less see to completion. My hat is off to both of you! Let him know the ferry and the half track in the background look cool too. Peace
extmcdriver Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 This is just the start, watch out, he will surpass us all!!!!
drinkone2 Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Very nice work! It's great to see kids getting into this hobby, something rarely seen these days. You should get him a trailer to go with it :-)
towman1271 Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Love seeing gets get interested in our hobby.. My boys never wanted to try it.. That had to be a great feeling.. Tell your son he did great & we want to see more from him! He will learn from one of the best!
Tesla Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 This father and son project turned out excellent!! Your son could not have a better teacher!
Modelbuilder Mark Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 I REALLY enjoy hearing stories of parents spending this kind of time with their children. It WILL be remembered! My father was an auto body man and as a kid one of my favorite things was when he took me to work. Give me an old door he had just yanked off of something, throw it on a couple of saw horses and had me a hammer. I had always hoped my sons would be interested in cars, but they are not. However....my grandson is!!!! SO there is model building in his future for sure.
RAMBENNA Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 (edited) great job little dude, you did some nice building on your truck Edited February 19, 2017 by RAMBENNA
Superpeterbilt Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Great job little man! It wont be long now, til your knockin out the bigger cabovers like your Ole Man. Keep on buildin!
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted February 20, 2017 Author Posted February 20, 2017 Thanks for all the comments guys. He reminded me that he helped with the half-track too. The ferry is Lego and he has taken it apart and rebuilt it several times. He probably could have built the Peterbilt by his self, but the flash was terrible. I trimmed and he put it together. Thanks again guys!
slusher Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Great semi and looking up to dad and be like him....
guitarsam326 Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Start him young Brian! Maybe one day he'll be building some sweet lookin rigs like his old man!
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 26, 2017 Author Posted March 26, 2017 Thanks for all the comments guys!! I hope to keep him interested in model building!
JerseeJerry55 Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 Wow that's a great job. The modeling future is bright in your household. Job well done.
landman Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 That has to be very rewarding Brian. Keep encouraging him.

That was a year and a half ago. His interest in models has definitely decreased, but I'm still encouraging him. His older brother takes a spell where he decides to build a model now and then, but when it gets slightly difficult he quits. Still trying to encourage them both.
DrKerry Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 Very nice!! Great memories go along with the builds too!!
