Recieved an email from hobby search this morning that put a smile on my face. The hasegawa pkw kubelwagen is getting rereleased in the egg girls series. I've built one and it was a good kit. Happy to see it back again so I wont have to pay ebay prices. The engine could also possibly be used to back date the gunze split beetle to 1948 spec with a couple of changes.

Drat!

I really like the kit, but want one with the standard tires, not the big Sand tires.  I wonder if Hasegawa sells just the tires? Either way, I'll be on the lookout for one.

There are several eBay sales up now for the Hasegawa "Early Version," which seems to have regular tires.  It also has different rear fenders, skid plate, etc.

These are not only nice kits, but they include a great selection of 1/24 WWII accessories like a jerry can, weapons, ammo boxes, etc.

One related vehicle I'd like to see in 1/24 is the schwimwagen, not because it's military but just to round out my vw collection. Not sure how I would build it but my last kubelwagen was done as a ratty drag car with a turbo motor. The next one will be done late 80's early 90's cal look

I'd like to see 1/25 or 1/24 scale VW Type 181. The Thing.

Definitely! Why they have not done any of the other types in scale is beyond me. A squareback, fastback or notchback would also be nice.

I wish Hasegawa would sell those figures separately

No need, there are plenty of figures being made in 1/24th scale as of late ,  just gotta look.

If it comes with the figure I'm in..

It does come with the figure.

Yes, there are quite a few, but, I like the Anime style ones

How about a 411 4-door? Believe it or not, but I've always liked that car.

Me too. Back in the 90s, Gunze Sangyo did several 1/24 kits that included anime girls.  In the VW pic below, the girl on the left is wearing eyeglasses.  The glasses were done in photo-etched metal, along with the VW emblem and a few other parts. Gunze's Fiat 500 got the same treatment, and had engine detail. With an anime girl mechanic!

Yes! These where so neat! I have the Fiat and missed out on the bug. And yes, those figures are super well done.

The cars have been issued and re-issued without the figures, but those figures seem to be a one shot deal.

Not my build.

Are you so offended by a Hasegawa themed anime connection you had to scribble her out of existence? Pretty sure everyone here has seen a blonde in a bikini before...

Kurt, if you really could care less about the anime bikini girl, there seems to be several that you could send it to, myself included!
